About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Everything is old dated not enough PtTs classses cancelled left right and Center and the showers next to the spin room have been out of order for over 3 months, it’s a disgrace and shambles, and both myself and my wife will be cancelling and moving to the new gym in Cwmbran, it cheaper and better equipped, I know there are no classes there but it’s gone that way at PALC! Plus changing rooms are cleaned at least once a year, total fed up with the overall standards and service”

“Prices have shot up to use facilities .lots of kids in the gym late afternoon after school.i think lots of people use the gym who are not members.easy walk in/walk out .the odd spot check by staff may help.lots of the equipment is rather outdated and looks tired.centre does offer plenty of classes and groups to be fair.”

“Staff are very pleasant and go out of their way to assist you. What lets the centre down is the state of the building especially the toilets. They are a disgrace and need modernising.”

“Gymnasium is overlooked by staff. Self cleaning equipment often runs out and some air conditioning does not work. Could do better here.”

“Meon Vale is a good local gym. However it is a bit small, a lot of the equipment seems cramped together. If you go after work you are bombarded with teenage boys taking over the place, sometimes making other woman feel uncomfortable. Would appreciate some other classes such as more pump classes and spin/cycle classes throughout the whole week and weekend. And would be great for a gym and more room to use free weights with a sled pull/sled push for Hyrox style workouts.”

Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us — it truly means a lot. We’re pleased to hear you think Meon Vale is a good local gym. At the moment, we’re limited by the space available for our gym equipment, but we’ll look at reorganising the layout to make it feel less cramped. We’re also aware of the issues some members have experienced with large groups of teenagers. We’re working with them to improve their gym etiquette and help them understand that not everyone has unlimited time to train. If the problem continues, we’ll take further action to ensure a comfortable environment for all. Regarding classes, the sports hall is currently fully booked most evenings, which makes it challenging to add new sessions there. However, we will be introducing 30-minute classes at various times throughout the day in the gym area. We’ll keep everyone informed once these sessions are ready to launch. Thank you as well for your equipment and training suggestions. We’re always discussing future developments for Meon Vale, and your ideas will be taken into consideration as we plan ahead.
