About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Excellent facilities, managed by helpful staff. The only downside for me is the constant breaking down of the steamroom. Hence not giving a 5/5 rating”

“The gym facilities are always clean, the equipment seems up to date and easy to use. The pool is always manned when in use the changing rooms are mostly clean and the locker's accessible. One critsim is the change in numbers allowed to swim. Increasing from 12 to 24 which makes swimming of any type of fitness difficult.”

“Feel there is no one never on front desk, always a damp smell in pool area. Jacuzzi should be working. Toilets seem to never get cleaned constant smell of urine”

“Mel Brown is an absolutely exceptional asset to Ynysawdre. She has exceeded expectations on multiple occasions, she ensures her classes are phenomenal and despite having someone in the class that is repeatedly an absolute pain to everyone else, Mel is exceptionally patient and professional ,always knowledgeable and motivating and makes each workout challenging yet fun. I always look forward to her sessions , she has made a huge difference to my progress and I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend her classes to anyone looking for a dedicated and supportive coach.”

“Ynysawdre changing village is filthy, stinking smells from the drains, filthy tiles and the place doesn't look like it's been cleaned in months. Showers - only few are working. Foul brown water coming from the drains. Chewing gum stuck to the floor. Needs sorting out!”

The showers are out of action linked to the work on the drains, this should be resolved by the end of this week, this is not the standard we aim for. “Very friendly staff and nice gym atmosphere. New equipment is great only thing I would suggest to improve is to have heavier barbells or have one you can add plates to as the one on the smith machine doesn’t go low enough for all exercises”
