About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I went on the climbing wall and it was fantastic. The support from the instructor was great, they were very friendly and engaged. They spotted me when I was struggling to get the next step on a few of the climbs and helped me each time both on the wall and then chatting after :) I haven't only been climbing for a few months, getting some help with the technical skills I have struggled with was great! There was enough variety on the routes that I was able to really enjoy my session.”

“The company staff in centre have no understanding of how payments work or their own systems and have consistently given incorrect advice.”

“Very helpful in respect of me being a carer and having difficulty accessing the lovely facilities at the moment. I have been a member for many years and value the service. I also bring my granddaughter to soft play and she loves it!”

“There are occasions where the changing rooms need attention. Muddy floors, especially in the evening. School teachers and parents often walk thru with their outdoor shoes on. I feel No one should be wearing shoes when passing the shower areas.”

“The staff are helpful and welcoming. The swimming lessons are taught to a high standard by Mo (and Lilly as cover). The yoga is excellent taught by Theresa, and Cathy’s pilates is the best I’ve ever done. There are interesting classes like ladies that lift run by Lexi who is fab at explaining the gym equipment. On the down side, the studios, sports hall and pool area are often quite dirty, and the changing room often smells of sewage. There is some kit missing from the gym: hip adductor/abductor would be useful and while some of the equipment is lovely and new, some is in need of an upgrade still. The studio would be much improved with mirrors to ensure correct form during classes. Overall, I love having a fairly good gym so close to home and the membership is excellent value.”

“The centre has great instructors but they are only human and get ill or family problems. The classes aren't covered and this is becoming annoying.”

“Been a member for a long time, today I came to leisure pool for my normal workout. There were 20 or so secondary school kids in gym. Way too many so this restricted my access to equipment. They also need supervision from a teacher. Very loud and often just talking. I’m sure these kids don’t pay the full membership cost like I do.”

“Bridgend Halo is good valve and offers a good range of fitness options.However, both the building and the equipment are "tired" which has an adverse impact on customers' experiences at the Centre.”

“The centre staff are really welcoming and always greet you with a smile. I swim every week and water temperature is always warm enough for me I've notice a big improvement in cleanliliness since shoes have been banned from the changing rooms. I also go to the exercise classes and the instructor is very good.”
