About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Staff are lovely however the centre is very tired. The spin bikes have seen better days and the locks in the changing rooms are often broken. They take months to be fixed. Sheila the cleaner is excellent however on her days off the changing room toilets are not good eg today. Our direct debit keeps increasing but standards are diminishing”

“Lovely building with the bonus of a cafe, library and friendly staff. Not given 5* for the following reasons: -Parking is often problematic -only 1 evening aqua class -changing room (pool) female toilets often unclean.”

“Friendly staff, large free carpark BUT disappointed to learn that the women's changing rooms are actually mixed sex, as are the women's only swim sessions. Am thinking of cancelling membership as I'm paying £36 just to be able to use a small gym.”

Good morning Gemma, Thank you for your comments and feedback. Our changing facilities are split to male and female areas. If a situation arises where there is a cross gender this would need to be discussed with the manager so we deal with it in a professional fair approach. Many Thanks Team Pyle

“The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are more than adequate for my needs, although some of the equipment needs a little maintenance in order to achieve its full potential.”

“The gym has had a re-vamp and they've got rid of alot of tge machines. It's also full of young children mostly stood around which makes it hard to use the equipment. And with the gym membership going up you still have to pay almost £15 on top to play badmington. Become more expensive for less”

“I would have given 4 stars as the centre staff, instructors and classes are excellent. However, the standard of cleanliness and maintenance really lets the centre down - there are numerous issues regarding maintnenace and some are easily resolved, including showers, cubicles, lockers. The car parking facilities are also poor but I appreciate this is difficult to resolve in a town centre location.”

“They could have a great gym here but the gym floor is often dirty, the equipment is outdated and it seems Halo are reluctant to invest in this site. I will be cancelling my membership soon as the changing rooms on top of everything else are disgusting and smell terribly. Make staff seem too keen to follow females around the gym chatting to get the hoover out! Borderline sexual harassment every time a female walks in! Avoid this gym”

“Great programme of activities .Some staff on front desk would benefit from some customer service training .I have lost count of number of times we have to wait to check in while desk staff focus more on serving coffee .There are some issues with taps not working ,toilet seats falling off and toilet flushes not working which do not get resolved very quickly .But overall its great with some very committed and hard working instructors”

“I only use the gym but have a disappointed that the equipment is very tired the seats are breaking - machines not working - floor damaged. Also I find that doing GP referrals first thing in the morning when it is very busy is not a good time to do it. Maybe later in the day when it is quieter would be better.”

“Easy to book in staff are always very helpful and polite pool area is always kept clean and tidy changing rooms are clean and well maintained. Water temperature seems to have been lowered in recent months.”

“The fitness suite at Bromyard is small but adequate for the size of town. The staff are efficient and always greet you with a smile. At times it can be quite busy but you seldom have to wait long for a particular piece of apparatus. The only fly in the ointment is that some of the handles are worn through or split and it takes an age for them to be repaired, which is sad and why I have not awarded 5 stars.”
