About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Open good hours during the week. Only open mornings at weekends which is a bit disappointing. Only small but you can usually get on the equipment you want. Reasonably priced.”

“there are many lockers provided in pyle, however it is a challenge to find one that works on the female side, due to this everybody leaves their clothes in the changing cubicles so you have to walk around looking for a cubicle so you can change. the pool itself is very strained in the gutter channel around the pool, which does not reassure you that it is cleaned satisfactory. the staff themselves are very pleasant on the reception desk”

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently looking into improving the lockers and replacing them with padlocks. The channels surrounding the pool are cleaned on a weekly basis, unfortunately there are some marks we are unable to remove. Your comments will be shared with the team. Many Thanks

“Gym, swim and group classes available. Swim times very limited for line swimming, especially every evening and weekends as taken over by swim clubs or not open. Memberships are pricey so if just gym/classes better elsewhere. Cafe doesn't serve healthy options. Sandwich or cake.... no protein/salad option. Staff always friendly and helpful. Booking in system fails due to poor Internet connection and so queues are mostly unavoidable.”

“Clean, tidy, welcoming. Staff are lovely especially Marcus who will always go the extra mile and is relentlessly kind and encouraging. Classes are well run and varied to keep interest going. Highly value this resource in the town.”

“Good selection of classes, could have done with a few more. The gym, also have a good selection of equipment, however, the mats and weights, is too small and area. Classes being held there meaning you couldn't use the area. I had. Lastly, children being allowed in unsupervised.”

“I work 7 to 4! I love swimming. No suitable times available unless I want to swim at 9pm??? Not practical...”

We do have sessions on Wednesdays and Thursday 6.00pm - 7..00 pm and 8.00pm on a monday if these would be something that would interest you.

“The pool is well maintained. It is good that the lifeguards make sure everyone is observing the lane discipline in these sessions. The upgrade of the lockers & key bands was well overdue & is much appreciated. Also the safety grab rails in the showers are an improvement.”

“Staff are lovely however the centre is very tired. The spin bikes have seen better days and the locks in the changing rooms are often broken. They take months to be fixed. Sheila the cleaner is excellent however on her days off the changing room toilets are not good eg today. Our direct debit keeps increasing but standards are diminishing”
