About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Great gym, lovely swimming pool complex. However centre is starting to look a bit shabby and the dry side changing rooms are too hot.”

“Good equipment,well serviced so rarely not in use. Good range of exercising machines to target differing muscle groups. Treadmills fantastic. Easy to book in online and staff always courteous on arrival. Hence 5 stars.”

“Two running machines out of order in gymnasium and two out of three stair stepping machines also (one has been out of order for several months). The gym is very busy now with school holidays so it is disappointing that all the equipment is not available.”

“I largely enjoy using the stadium for a range of activities but do find the pool too cold to swim in and the gym gets over crowded often. Since the halo takeover I have been unable to pay for sessions on the app and staff in the stadium have been unable to rectify the issue.”

“Staff are nice. Membership is quite expensive for the facilities available in the gym and the limited time slots you can use the pool. Given Hereford membership is the same price but theres more available to use it seems wrong? Half the weights of kettlebells keep going missing??? 2 of the same weight would be helpful! Even early in the morning the gym can be quite dirty (unhoovered, weights scattered etc)”

“Good gym, good kit and set up. Just a bit awkward with changing rooms and the school situation. The showers are always red hot and you dont have any temprature controls which is not what you want in summer after a gym session.”

“It is very good but could do with a second Aqua session on a Thursday, as they do on a Monday, Thursdays session is extremely difficult to get on.”

“Changing rooms are dirty and tired, regularly smelling of sewage. They desparately need upgrading. The facilities for disabled people are poor with changing rooms a long way away from the disabled shower and access to the pool. Grab handles need to be added to the showers closest to the pool to help people with reduced mobility and also signs allocating the larger changing cubicles as a priority to people with reduced mobility would easily address and help these patrons. Furthermore, there need to be more 'Quiet Swim' sessions for people with disabilities/reduced mobility who find public/social/laned swims inappropriate. These need to be in the evening and at weekends as well as daytime sessions to allow for work commitments (Many people with disabilities and reduced mobility do still work!).”
