About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Severn Centre is the hub of the village, even more so since the Medical Centre moved there. The outdoir pool is a facility we are so very fortunate to have in our village. This year has been the best swimming season for many years, excellent management, professional staff, and a long season. Water and pool have been an excellent temperature and clean enabling use what ever the weather. The Highley Community project has served the village greatly, as well as raising funds for swimming lessons.”

“Staff are welcome and hard working, I enjoy all the classes and I like the centres..however: More classes would be better, more yoga maybe Zumba?? And longer hours at the weekend for classes. Bringing back the spa at Hereford pool would be great too as it was super when open and I have to pay extra to visit Ludlow”

“Husband and I use the pool usually three times a week. All of the staff are very friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. Safety by the pool is paramount and the lifeguards on duty are very observant. The pool area, changing rooms, toilets, showers and reception are very clean. Although we live about a twenty minute drive away, we would not wish to go anywhere else. Thank you all”

“I would like to provide feedback for the GP referral team at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre. I underwent a major life changing operation back in February 2024, and due to this my Surgeon, GP and Consultant were worried that I could develop a hernia due to the operation I had. So they suggested I be referred to Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre as part of their GP Referral Scheme. I was a little apprehensive about this, but from the first initial call with Kerry, right through to Jess on Reception all involved have been amazing and provided the support I needed. Neil, Kerry Hannah and who I like to call the boss lady aka Christine are so approachable and really do care for your fitness and wellbeing. My referral has come to an end now, but I've joined as a paying customer as a result of how well I have done personally, along with the help and support of the named Instructors. The new on going price is also great value for money! Thanks all, its made a big difference to me and my outlook going forward!!”

“Love using this pool and gym. Staff are friendly and helpful. I feel quite comfortable using the resources despite being ‘a beginner’. It’s a shame the steam room is often not working and I struggle to get a place in some of the more popular classes : aquafit/ Pilates etc”

Hi Anne Thank you for your recent 4 star review. We are pleased you are enjoying using the centre and appreciate any frustration regarding our ongoing issues with the steam room. We do have a part on order and so hopefully it will be back up and running very soon. Aquafit and Pilates are 2 very popular classes and we offer a 2 week booking system for members but it does require getting in early to avoid disappointment.
