About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Good centre. However the water fountain in the gym has not been working for weeks now and there is an alternative one upstairs but this is not ideal for people with mobility problems”

“Lovely staff and facilities are generally clean & well kept. The pool is warmer than many other centres which is a big plus if you don't enjoy a cold swim. I would like them to offer swim only membership though.”

“Been a member for many years...due to ill health I can not tend regularly but I attend when I can. The last time I visited I found the steam room so hot it burned my face when I stood and breathing was difficult without burning my throat. The sauna was not warm enough. I use the tone zone and aqua gym both are great... the sauna, steam room and shower in steam room all need repair and updating . Sad to see this facility so neglected.”

“I attend the Quiet swim session in the pool. The staff are good, the air and water temperature varies but my biggest problem is the unruly behaviour of some schools. The children rush in and take no care or thought about elderly people attending the session who are unsteady on their feet and vulnerable. The Halo staff are good, The fault lies with the school staff who even allow the children to invade our area of the changing cubicles..”

“The staff at Maesteg pool are friendly going over and above their normal duties to make all feel welcome. The facilities are dated with the male changing area in desperate need of repair. Buckets catching water from roof is unacceptable and is taking Halo senior management much to long to deal with. GET A MOVE ON”

“It was my first time at this class (doctor referral). I found the class more difficult than I had anticipated. Referred to build up the muscles around my right hip,was suggested resistance training around that area, this class appeared to be all over body exercises. Will try again though.”
