About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I swim at Leominster twice a week for about 3/4 years. On entre flat is the word that comes to mind. Little enthusiasm shown, not often does reception give you a smile or a look in the face. Better inside, one or two instructors happy to converse. Not very friendly or communicative in general. A warning about an aggressive company taking over the car park management would have been useful to all.”

“Very friendly staff. Good facilities. Plenty of changing cubicles and lockers. 3 showers arent really enough but otherwise very good.”

“Good gym equipment and usually no problem getting onto the piece of equipment you want. Have considered going to classes but not any on that I would like at the time I could attend. Prices have risen so not as good value as it used to be.”

“The cleanliness of the floors were poor. Throughout the showers, changing rooms, family changing with the shower and spectator areas. I also would also benefit from more than 1 baby seat that is working to be able to get myself changed when visiting with a baby and child. The staff were great and the children enjoyed swimming experience.”

“My halo centre in Ogmore Vale has become a lot better this year. Since my experience of with the holiday club in 2024. It's been done out lovely. I'm enjoying myself 😊 I don't want it to end 😞”

“I find the toilets extremely dirty and lots of. Token bits whether it’s the flush, toilet seat or doors. Hygiene is extremely important and I would expect a better standard of facilities.”

“When it's not busy, this is a nice gym. It's small, but so long as there aren't too many people that's not a problem. I find after school/evenings to be far too busy, when lots of young people are hogging the machines. The check-in process is also ridiculous. The using the app to generate a code never works for me, so I always have to queue at reception to get in, which is annyoing when you only get 1 hour of parking and waste precious minutes queuing! I once walked straight in because I know that early in the morning the gym is unlocked, and was told we have to check in, but I've seen other people just walk straight in - so whcih is it? Stupid system with poor tech which wastes time! Showers are basic and could do with updating tbh, when it's busy there isn't enough bench space for people to get changed adn it's v crowded”

“Great staff, very helpful, its very clean, steam room and sauna are excellent.i recommend it to friends alot.The app is easy to use.If i did have any criticism it would only be that its not open on Saturday or Sunday afternoon”
