About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Low on benches. Low on dumbells. Too hot, even in winter. Atmosphere is friendly though and one is able to get a full workout in nonetheless.”

“Paying Over £6 for a swim is a joke, not only that if you can't swim before 8am you have the added cost of parking.”

“Lovely pool but tiled floor in changing room area usually dirty ,hand towel not worked for a couple of weeks & showers could be a couple of degrees warmer.”

“Superb pool & gym. Marvellous young staff ( not forgetting older staff)who work very hard,with long hours. Always cheerful,humorous & knowledgeable. What else do you need!!”

“I mostly use the gym which is a good facility with only minimal waiting times on busier periods. The downside of the gym is that individuals do not clean down equipment after they have finished. The staff are all polite and helpful. The major problem with Bridgend Halo is the car park, it took me 20 minutes to get out of it the other day because people were not parked in designated parking spaces and were not adhering to the one way circuit.”

“Thanks to good management and good player connectivity our numbers have exceeded expectations. It looks like we will exceed court numbers by far. Unlike two years ago Most of the rooms are busy with their respective activities. Socialisation between users is noticeably higher.”

“It’s ok does the job if a swim , GREAT water is warm . Can very much improve showers they are only on for about 10 seconds before you have to press the button for more water. Please increase to at least 30 or even 60 seconds as you have to wash your hair. Stools when drying your hair would be useful .”

“Positives, the staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean and tidy, I found the gym well equipped on the one occasion I could actually go there. Negatives: gym doesn’t open until 8 so was no good for working parents with after school clubs. Pool opens at 6:30 but you are likely to be sharing a lane with someone of a different ability so plan carefully Downstairs showers have no hooks so any clothes you take in will get soaked. If you intend being a member for the year there are other gyms with pools that are open earlier until later and cost is similar”

Just to clarify, our gym opens at 6:15 AM Monday to Friday and at 8:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. Our opening times are also available on our website, and you can book gym sessions in advance via our app, website, or directly at reception, so you'll always know the hours and can plan accordingly.
