About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Positives, the staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean and tidy, I found the gym well equipped on the one occasion I could actually go there. Negatives: gym doesn’t open until 8 so was no good for working parents with after school clubs. Pool opens at 6:30 but you are likely to be sharing a lane with someone of a different ability so plan carefully Downstairs showers have no hooks so any clothes you take in will get soaked. If you intend being a member for the year there are other gyms with pools that are open earlier until later and cost is similar”

Hi Christopher, Thank you for your feedback, and we appreciate your comments on our staff. We're always looking for ways to improve, and your insights help us with that. Just to clarify, our gym opens at 6:15 AM Monday to Friday and at 8:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. Our opening times are also available on our website, and you can book gym sessions in advance via our app, website, or directly at reception, so you'll always know the hours and can plan accordingly. “Great experience staff very helpful and friendly explain everything to you 5 stars all the way, the only problem I can see is the car parking so busy got to park at the back which as no lighting so a little bit scary at 7pm.”

“Lots of small issues that should be fixed Black mold on the silicon in the showers The Temperature and humidity timer in the sauna are broken due to the seal collapsing inwards and causing the needles to stick The Steam Room is ALWAYS broken. Could do with a 'plunge shower' near the sauna a LOT of people enter the pool without showering, which is disgusting and unhygenic. Could do with a member of staff pointing it out at the start of the sessions where the most people are doing this.”

“The staff in the reception area and cafe are very good and the cafe is clean, sports hall sometimes needs a bit more sweeping, especially in corners, apart from that every other things are okay”

“The new method of checking in by scanning qr code worked well and the changing rooms were v clean. But once in the gym lots of equipment was out of order and it was extremely busy, had to wait for equipment”

“It’s a decent gym but would benefit from free parking for members and a later closing time in the week (until 10pm) and definitely at weekends. Closing at 1pm is too early on Saturdays and Sundays.”

“All reception staff are really friendly and helpful. Some of the greens are in poor condition due to damage caused by animals. Booking T times is easy using the App. Is everyone that plays on the course booking T times? The car parking is an issue for some users of the centre. The members I have interacted with have all had PCNs issued even though they were making use of the facilities at the time. Over stayed the 4 hours by 30 mins having played golf £60. Valid time on ticket, Incorrect entry of a Reg Plate £20. Machine not working £60. PCNs are discouraging use of additional facilities. An annual parking pass has been purchased and alleviated my issue with parking albeit limited to 4 hours, making staying for a coffee to warm up and engage in further social interaction post playing golf highly unlikely. It’s simply not worth risking a hot coffee and chat for a £60 PCN!”

““Pretty terrible welcome at the Leominster centre. Met with unhappy faces an staff moaning at working conditions. Woman with short blond hair needs to smile instead of being so miserable it’s poor customer service. Thinking of cancelling if doesn’t improve. I didn’t feel welcome at all sort it out!!”
