About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I have been a member of Halo for many years, using the gym and various classes on an irregular basis. My main activity is to play social badminton on a weekly basis when I can. The online booking system, the venue, the facilities and the staff, particularly. are very good. I also like the "coffee shop" area and find the foyer a friendly, weloming environment. My only mild grievance concerns the badminton. While I appreciate that classes involving larger numbers of people are vital, it can be frustrating when courts are only available to book at awkward times of the day. The availability of courts in the morning is very rare. Otherwise I am very happy with the service Halo provides, will continue to use the Centre, and recommend it to others.”

“Great leisure centre. Could do with replacing some of the weights in the gym (the 1-10kg ones as handles all coming off) Also pool is really warm could be a few degrees colder which would also save ££!”

“Staff are lovely, really friendly. I witnessed them dealing with an emergency situation in the pool and they were excellent, dealing with situation in a professional manner. The pool temperature seems warmer to me, which is great as it used to be cold. So overall really happy with Halo.”

“The staff are always on hand to help, recently have had the pleasure of dealing with James in the Maesteg centre. He guided me through a plan I could use going forward. Very knowledgeable and informative and look forward to putting into practice all that he’s advised. Very patient extremely knowledgeable and just one of a friendly and helpful staff member.”

“Brockworth swimming pool needs some urgent attention it was filthy inside. I will not be going back with my child. Poor customer service young people with no manners. The pool sides had sand all over it. Not the kind of experience I would expect.”

“Generally good ,but some classes have to be booked 2 weeks in advance , nice to book impromptu if you have time to go for a class if you have the time to fit one in maybe if work rota changes”
