About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The people on reception are always friendly and helpful. The changing rooms are fine with plenty of lockers and the pool is an ideal temperature for swimming.”

“Brilliant staff, super friendly. John the swimming teacher is fantastic, he really engages the children no matter what age ! Definitely an asset to Halo.”

“I use the spin classes at the centre and the instructors Scott, Heather and Aaron are very good. The problem my wife and I have are the limited numbers per class as the bikes are very old and alot of them are not working correctly. There are six bikes out due to faults. I don't have alot of confidence in the equipment and worry it might failure. I think the equipment should be replaced so that the full class numbers can be achieved”

“Generally excellent, clean, helpful staff. However the decision to reduce the number of treadmills in the gym recently with the equipment change over seems crazy. These are by far the most popular pieces of equipment and on all my recent visits, people have been having to wait to try and get on one, myself included. This was never an issue before.”

“The team at Halo are great. The only issue I really have is the fact that a lot of gym users hog the equipment. On one occasion my son and I wanted to use a piece of equipment, but the same guy was on it for the full hour we had available to train.”

“My biggest complaint is that we do not have a Sauna any more. It was and would be an amazing incentive to swim and Gym ... it is a reward for coming down. I know many people who stopped coming when it was shut. The Jacuzzi could be turned into a cold plunge and thus would not need to be heated . Cold is best or just turned off. This would turn my ratings into a 5* Witout a cold plunge it would still be a 4.5* and amazing. I would pay £10/month extra for the Sauna on top pof my membership.”

“Gym equipment is rusty and padding cracked - needs to be proactively maintained, not left until it becomes an issue. Showers have low pressure, you have to stand on the grid to shower - very awkward and unpleasant.”

“Staff are great, always pleasant and helpful. Some areas starting to look a little tired, showers still waiting to be repaired, been on going for months”
