About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Excellent staff, always helpful and give good advice. Machines have been in a poor state for a while but new ones have just been installed and it is being decorated at the moment. Quite an improvement all round.”

“The centre was good. Friendly staff and facilities seemed fine. It's just that I contracted Covid or, at least tested positive posive for 10 days after visiting it the last time 2 days later, and nobody else around me or anywhere that I went after that did. So, maybe I was unlucky, but with hairdryers being used in the changing rooms I fgured that there is more chance of catching it there with warm air moving around a lot of people. I work from home, do not go out much and none of my patients caught it and nobody at my table tennis club that I go to had symptoms so, I am assuming that I got it at the centre. Not conclusive I accept, but as nobody has to test nowadays or report anything it's hard to know what is going on anywhere.”

“I have been a member of halo for many years, l play badminton regularly but mostly I enjoy circuit training both at the Hereford pool and at leominster. I. Haven't missed many sessions over the years, the trainers are excellent and make us very welcome. My wife and myself are over 75”

“Loads of cardio equipment, not much variety of anything else and what they do have is only 1 of each piece of equipment, so when it's busy, you will just have to wait your turn. Not worth the money each month, have now cancelled my membership.”

“Friendly and helpful staff. Gym well equiped. Adam Davies does the best class in my opinion but he's been off quite a lot lately and the class was either cancelled at the very last minute or covered by someone else. Finally, it's very hard to find a parking space in busy hours.”

“A friendly Centre that offers a wide range of facilities and classes. A wonderful swimming pool is available for all ages and abilities together with regular aqua aerobic classes which are my favourite!”

“Attached to a school, this centre has limited facilities, but this is reflected in the joining fee. There is a class most evenings and they cater for a range of fitness levels and offer something for everyone. There is a friendly atmosphere with welcoming instructors. If the floors were kept a little cleaner it would be 5 star.”

“Much of the gym equipment is broken and has been for some time. It's a scam to be asked to pay of that money for membership when so much of the equipment is faulty. Staff are helpful and understanding where possible.”
