About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The classes I attend I thoroughly enjoy, but it's such a shame other classes I would like to try overlap. Instructors are knowledgeable and friendly.”

“Halo Leominster centre is on the decline and has been for so time. It lacks care and interest from the management. Much was made of the new equipement and 'investment' but in reality this has amounted to very little despite the rising cost of membership. The new equipment is inferior to what was there previuosly and many machines are already unserviceable. A new machine requiring plates have been purchased and placed the other end of the gym to the equipment using plate. No further plates have been purchased or have the ones falling apart been replaced. Much time is now wasted rounding up matching pairs of plates to conduct exercises with them. There is no longer anti bacteria sprays and rarly is the blue roll replenished frequently enough. As a result the hygine standards have lapsed. When the priced is increased we are conistantly told it is to due to rising costs but the main issues at Leominster do not require funding, they just need some care and attention. Many people are disillusioned with the centre but have stopped voicing their frustrations and the attitude is very much 'if you dont like it, go elsewhere'.”

“This is my "home" leisure centre which I have used over many years. These days I enjoy an early morning swim at the start of the day in the lovely, light and airy covered pool.”
