About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The staff at the gym are nice people but unfortunately the desk is not manned regularly. I’ve gone looking for them several times without any luck. Over the last 4 months I have only seen one of the staff cleaning the gym area. On one occasion I saw another one vacuum the carpet. We received several new machines a few months ago and 3 handles for the upper body machines had to be replaced within a few weeks.”

“Hi, I live in Merthyr Tydfil and just got the local Contact Community Magazine where I saw an ivite to get a 7-day Guest Pass for the Gym, Swim & Group Exercises. Unfortunately, the link does not work - it gives 'Failure to Connect to Database'! I am sure it is a temporary fault but better to flag it up. BTW - tried both from a Laptop & a Phone!”

“Lovely pool with very friendly staff! Always very clean and staff always working hard. Sometimes the social swim is overcrowded and does not allow for swimming as it seems more like a family or teenager fun session.”

“I find the booking system a bit cumbersome but not sure why. Water nice and clean and staff very helpful. Carpark expense, makes for a rushed swim, shame this can't be cheaper???”

“I've been a member of your Hereford Leisure Pool site for the past 18 months and 6 months ago started attending classes and they are brilliant; there's a consistently high level of teaching which keeps me fit and attending around 7-9 classes each week. However, I have heard some rumours that you are thinking of stopping Barre (taught by Jana) in the new year and this would be a HUGE mistake as it's unique amongst the class programme, it offers a brilliant physical workout to different parts of the body in comparison to other classes and there's nothing else on the programme which could replace it. If you're assessing it on a numbers level, this is one of the most popular and subscribed classes alongside the session Jana runs directly after (Zumba) with a lot of people attending both. Jana is a great teacher, a wonderful motivator and clearly talented. She says she's able to continue it for at least 2 more years if the current licence is withdrawn from/by Les Mills. I urge you to continue running this class into 2025 and 2026 as I feel it offers Halo a distinction amongst other gym/class operators in the city.”

“I have found during the many years I have been using Pyle leisure centre that it has always been a pleasurable experience. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are ideal for my morning swim. I hope to enjoy my daily swim at this pool for many years in the future.”
