About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I find the booking system a bit cumbersome but not sure why. Water nice and clean and staff very helpful. Carpark expense, makes for a rushed swim, shame this can't be cheaper???”

“The gym is fantastic, lots of equipment and staff are very friendly and helpful. Only improvement would be the cleaning of the gym and changing rooms.”

“I've been a member of your Hereford Leisure Pool site for the past 18 months and 6 months ago started attending classes and they are brilliant; there's a consistently high level of teaching which keeps me fit and attending around 7-9 classes each week. However, I have heard some rumours that you are thinking of stopping Barre (taught by Jana) in the new year and this would be a HUGE mistake as it's unique amongst the class programme, it offers a brilliant physical workout to different parts of the body in comparison to other classes and there's nothing else on the programme which could replace it. If you're assessing it on a numbers level, this is one of the most popular and subscribed classes alongside the session Jana runs directly after (Zumba) with a lot of people attending both. Jana is a great teacher, a wonderful motivator and clearly talented. She says she's able to continue it for at least 2 more years if the current licence is withdrawn from/by Les Mills. I urge you to continue running this class into 2025 and 2026 as I feel it offers Halo a distinction amongst other gym/class operators in the city.”

“I have found during the many years I have been using Pyle leisure centre that it has always been a pleasurable experience. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are ideal for my morning swim. I hope to enjoy my daily swim at this pool for many years in the future.”

“Love this pool, staff are outstanding and willing to help, facilities are outside and clean. I'm going swimming to improve with my health with so many classes available with a good booking system there is never overcrowded lanes, with lanes split into slow, medium and fast makes swimming more enjoyable to exercise. A perfect 10/10 and well worth the money”

“Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Centre always very clean. A great range of exercise classes all very well run. Instructors knowledgeable and always ready to help when you are carrying an injury by offering alternative exercise”

“The staff are always friendly and helpful. The centre has a really good weights room with a large selection of various machines specific for various muscle groups. The machines are for weight plates to be added and there cable machines too. There are benches, squat racks and a large selection of dumbbells. There's a separate room where cardio machines are such as treadmills etc and also more cable machines. There could be some new machines put in such as a ski-erg, stair machine and air bike There is swimming pool and also a modern look cafe. This centre is in the heart of Aberfan and next to the taff trail. Perfect for the community.”
