About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Pyle swimming pool is a great facility which I value. The changing rooms and showers are in good condition and reasonably clean. The pool is clean and the water a comfortable temperature. Some of the staff could be more friendly. Some barely look up or acknowledge you when you book in.”

“I used the gym on a PAYG basis at Cwmbrân Stadium. Only card was accepted at the till. In the changing rooms some of the lockers weren’t working. There was a good selection of machines that were all working and the gym seemed to be clean.”

“Cwmbran Stadium staff are helpful and polite, classes that I attend are well organised and I find them enjoyable. However, the centre itself is looking tired and in need of some TLC and modernisation.”

“The gym is okay, mostly. It has taken a long time to get new equipment here at Bromyard halo, but the equipment that has replaced the old equipment isnt great. Some staff are rude and not very helpful the manager at Bromyard halo doesn’t have time for regular gym goers. The only time staff are on the gym floor is if they are cleaning ( at busy times of the day) or if they are not on shift and training them selves. You are made to feel awkward for just asking questions. Its like some of the staff just don't want to be helpful at all. When the pt (personal trainer) are there they are both there at the same time or there is one and they’re too busy and or there is no pt in the building”

“The staff are excellent but the facilities in the changing rooms are very run down and needs refurbishment. There are not enough sessions in the evening if you work full time. Also 30 people used to go to aqua fit and the instructor has finished and there is no replacement.”

“Customer service has been excellent by a lady called Lisa. Really informative and could answer all questions. Friendly and happy on reception, it’s lovely to walk into the stadium and be greeted with a smile! Cwmbran Stadium”

“Most Staff are fab. The swimming pool needs an upgrade. The changing rooms floors have rips in them. Bottom of doors the wood had eraded, not many lockers work,looks a bit neglected. Health suit the same really. Also I have seen some insects by the door of the sauna and by the drain in the middle of the sitting area in the health suit.”

“Staff are friendly ,knowledgable and helpful. A mixture of classes offered. Although it is difficult to get places on some classes even when trying to book at 7am when classes become available for 2 weeks time.”

“Cleanliness of overall facilities to a poor standard, changing rooms are dated, 3/4 swimming lockers don’t work, changing room floor grubby, child’s pool too cold for younger children, dogs allowed within eating areas, more facilities needed for younger children, during a recent visit to Cwmbran stadium soft play toilets pleasantly displayed overflowing dirtied female pads next to toilet…. Explain that to a child using a toilet!”
