About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“So glad I joined. Halo Hereford Leisure Pool is fabulous. Staff and other members so friendly and welcoming. Great selection of classes and gym equipment clean and in good order. Wish I could spend more time there but work gets in the way!”

“Friendly staff, good equipment, good premises. Chris is amazing. Sometimes the music is too loud, which is annoying because nowadays most people bring their own headphones or air pods, wanting to hear their own music or audiobooks while exercising, which they can't when loud music is blaring from the speakers. Bringing your own headphones is also advisable because some people like to drop their weights after every exercise, which makes such a loud noise that it can seriously damage your eardrums if you are standing close by. Also, the tv next to the row of treadmills is rather dangerous as people get thrown off the treadmill if they look to the side trying to watch tv. Just get rid of it, please!”

“Ladies changing room is lacking of cleaning Very frustrating when booked in for swimming for fitness and people swim along side each other I have complained in the centre about this severel times and it still continues”

“Recently taken over Cwmbran Leisure who we use weekly for swimming lessons and soft play.Every week there is a problem with non disabled people taking up disabled spaces making it difficult for me as a disabled badge user with a child on the spectrum.Was told to fill in feedback form and await response within 72 hours.This was 2 weeks ago and still the problem persists and nobody has contacted me!”

“The pool is excellent- exceptionally clean and well maintained. The changing rooms need better cleaning. Particularly the showers. Hair and shampoo deposits are left for weeks suggesting they need cleaning fully behind the doors as well as just hosing down with the door open . There has are limescale deposits which need a good scrub and one of the locks on the showers has been broken for 2 years. The centre staff are friendly and helpful and the classes always full.”

“The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The gym facilities are very good however the pool and changing rooms are very dated and required an update. I am really enjoying the spin classes however it is an absolute nightmare to get a place booked. The classes are in high demand and there are not enough bikes/classes to meet demands.”

“When I joined a was using facilities alot during the day, changed to evenings for classes but found that after the kids swimming lesson the changing rooms are left with their clothes in and then grubby from there shoes ,talc hair ect. This made my experience poor.”
