About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Not a great choice in evening classes, mostly Body balance! Which is fine, but more choice would likely attract more people. The pilates class always has a wait list, so why not do more of those? The virtual spin is a DIY job - i've learned how to turn the screen/speakers/tablet on/off myself as it's very rarely set up ready. Although the staff are very helpful when asked. The facilities themselves need a bit of care, Leominster always used to be far better than Hereford (the Leisure pool is disgusting) but you can see it needs a bit of TLC. Probably increasing costs and less membership to blame unfortunately. Need to find a way to attract more members sadly, as we really don't want to lose such an asset in the community. Also, you're closed on weekend afternoons! Aren't you then missing out from a lot of family attendance?”

“Friendly, welcoming and helpful. Facilities and setting are very good and meet my needs. The group exercise classes are excellent- the instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging. Membership is very good value for money.”

“I like the ease of use of the gym and the booking system. The gym is clean and tidy. My one criticism is there are no staff to assist. No induction and no personal trainer available. This makes it a little daunting as a new gym user and not as confident.”

“Friendly staff and the coaches are fab. and with the good mixture of classes whats not to love There's a class for all abilities and I will even go alone as I know there's always a warm, friendly welcome.”

“Really good gym environment. That being said, poor opening times especially during weekends, makes it impossible to work weekends and keep up with training. The downtime on broken machinery is ridiculous. Months and months for simple repairs to be carried out. The membership price is very high considering hours and equipment available, but not a lot of options when it comes to other gyms in Leominster”

“In the Male pool Toilets there is rotting wood at the back of the cubicles and it smells. The lip around the main pool is dirty and is not cleaned like it used to be. The changing cubicles need a good deep clean. Putting up lots of new signage every where,that money would have been better spent on general maintenance of what is an aging building. All that said the staff are always friendly and helpful and are a credit to Halo.”
