About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“nice gym facilities and was nice to see new equipment being added. staff are wonderful, helpful and motivating at both Hereford centres. It is such a shame that the pool doesn't have a sauna facility, and the changing rooms in general felt quite dated and crowded sometimes.”

“BRIDGEND LIFE I enjoy the classes, and the instructors and all the staff at Bridgend are helpful and approachable. I just wanted to report that some teenagers are taking videos and pictures of themselves in the ladies changing rooms. This is fine but as there are quite a lot of mirrors,ladies are undressing and changing and are being photographed without permission. When asked to stop using their phones,they just laughed.”

“I was a little disappointed that there were no hooks in the shower cubicles and no handles in the women’s changing room. As a disabled person I am a little bit unsteady on my feet when I am getting dressed although I can nos sit down and enjoy the space you have made in the changing rooms it just lacks a handle on the wall. I am Deloitte the changes and love swimming in Pencoed with its friendly staff who are also very helpful! Although these things are small changes the overall appearance of the place is excellent.”

“This is a reliable, easy to use, affordable gym that offers equipment and classes at a high level. The staff are responsive, receptive and thoughtful, from Reeption to Personal Traniers and Indtructors. An excellent local service.”

“A good choice of classes although a few more to chose from would be good. I am disappointed that virtual spin will be no longer available as I have attended almost every Sunday morning for over a year. Cleanliness and hygiene is disappointing at my local Halo Centre . The floor in the main studio frequently has dried mud on the floor and fluff which is not pleasant when you are doing yoga type classes. No cleaning products available to clean the equipment after tutor lead exercise classes, this is only available in the gym and spin rooms. AT least one toilet out of 3 in the women's changing room is often out of action. The disabled toilet can be without hand wash for weeks and yet open for use with no alternative hand wash facility.”

“It used to be better. We had 3 swimming sessions a week of 90 mins, for 7 pm, but for some reason, after Christmas, they cut the Wednesday one to 60 mins.”

“I use the pool probably three times a week. The changing facilities are rarely clean. The lane swimming is a joke, no regulation on who is in the fast lane. Causes chaos daily and the staff are not interested in sorting this.”

“Maesteg pool is a very friendly environment where all the staff welcome you with a hello and a smile. I have been attending this location for years and enjoy doing so however the only let down is the cleaning routine seems to of slipped lately.”

“Centre is good but your booking system is appalling. You sent me this as you said that I have left the leisure centre, this is not the case I have renewed my membership! Even after I had paid over £ 400 for a years membership I got an email saying my memebership needed renewing and although payment had been accepted it did not show on my account until the expiry date. Not good”

“Excellent staff, great classes, equipment well looked after and kept clean. Some additional barbell weights would be beneficial. Could improved on maintenance - Water cooler took ages to replaced, mat tatty underneath and the missing L on the pool sign needs sorting out! Definitely worth 5 stars 😎”
