About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I love going to |Pencoed. The staff are really friendly and helpful and it feels like a proper community. The facilities are much better now that we've had new gym equipment and the changing rooms have been upgraded. The sauna area is lovely too. The pool could probably be a bit smarter I guess. I used the centre for the gym and for swimming and I also take my little grandson to the fun swim sessions”

“Halo Bridgnorth Endowed is great place for my family (my boys are 9 and 3 years old, myself, and others) If you live somewhere around just join. we visit mostly swimming pool and I do some sport classes. GREAT PLACE TO BE! and GREAT STUFF as well.”

“THE BUNKERS ON THE GOLF COURSE ARE A DISGRACE... The web site is a mess... Only four hours maximum parking, when 18 holes of golf can take longer especially if you want refreshments before/after your round... Can't link your annual parking pass to your account so no reminder when it's due to expire... Etc etc etc....”

“The Halo facilities in Bridgend are competitive with many Private or Trust owned Health and Wellbeing Centres in Wales and England. The fees are also competitive although, as a municipal facility, it's not very accessible to the huge number of people in the Bridgend area who require Benefits just to survive! Not the clever "artful doggers" that pick anyone and everyone's pockets, they know and many of their friends and family know who they are, but honest poor people who need this sort of facility to be made freely available, to enable them some relief for them and their children, from the DAILY battle to just survive. Sadly I see elitist selfish people are the majority of members in Bridgend as in Centres I have visited all over UK in 51 years of my 67 year life. Ironically Bridgend Centre was the first, brand new, and paid for by the local tax payers in Bridgend and Porthcawl, where I hailed from a boy who attended Bridgend Boys' Grammar Technical School, now Brynteg Comprehensive. 21 years Armed Services took me away from my home due to the political unrest and lack of local opportunities in this area in the 70s. Halo has developed and modernised but I'm afraid the star dropped is down to a lack of care and consideration for vulnerable individuals I have witnessed first hand on many occasions. Covid closed down the World. However it woke people up to the death and destruction biological agents can wreak. It is a shame that now, such a short time following such a horrific lesson to all, people who are too lazy, too selfish, self centred or just don't give any thought or consideration for people who are vulnerable, less robust and healthy, and just drop all rules and procedures required to protect EVERYBODY from viruses and any other biological agents that could seriously incapacitate or kill, ANYONE particularly the vulnerable, not just Centre attendees, but by YOU the carriers that transmit to your families and Loved ones at home and work. Halo provide the means, the guidance and hope WE ALL are intelligent, compassionate Human Beings who are worthy of citizenship, by demonstrating that WE truly understand and believe in making this a safer place for US ALL. Apply and Wipe down the equipment you are going to use and after use, with the spray and towels provided, or, bring your own. Your and others bodily fluids left on equipment leave behind billions of bacteria, viruses etc and, while a person looks "clean" NO ONE IS ! Within seconds of a hot and soapy shower, millions of bugs are alive on your body. Keep yourself safer, care about the vulnerable, they are not wasters, or lower than you, many of us are in ilhealth because we care for YOU the people and put our lives on the front line to fight real and present dangers attempting to minimise ongoing threats to OUR Country and fellow citizens. If you don't comply/participate You are an aggressive partner of the problem. Toning Suit users IN PARTICULAR! Abide by the Rules of the Circuit, all taught in the Induction Training. Abide by Best Practice! Not: lazy, can't care less, I'm too busy, I'm not a cleaner or a skivy, they can do it, I'm not lowering myself to that practice. Yes, I see you, I will tell you. So I hope will others. We the Members have to be active and true for any such entity to earn the 5th Star. Seren Pimp.”

“Halo Centre at Ynysawdre is usually quieter than other centres. There is more time to use machines, therefore less waiting. Also I has a calmer atmosphere, with no noisy music”

“At times the gym would get over crowded with groups of teens hogging the equipment. The classes I attended were exceptional. The instructors certainly knew what they were doing. The pool, unfortunately, isn't suitable for swimming in my opinion. The health suite was good. I do think it would benefit from a jacuzzi. There seems to be room for it if the 'ice' room was removed/relocated. Overall, my time with Halo Bridgend was a good experience. Should I one day return to live in Bridgend, I will certainly be coming back.”

“Halo in Leominster very poor staff with no interaction facilities could do with a good clean. Lockers been out of action for ages. Weights room could do with new equipment. You can go into the centre and not see any staff .”
