About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Pyle is a great gym lovely staff. Some equipment out of order e.g hot tub could this be fixed?”

“The pool is excellent very clean , changing rooms are well maintained, all staff at the centre are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. When I use the gym the staff especially Theresa are first class , welcoming and very knowledgeable. As regards the equipment maybe a couple of more bikes would be nice as sometimes if you are following a set routine as you are often waiting for the one to become available. Receptionists are always there to give a warm welcome as you arrive, always friendly.”

“The centre's equipment is very limited and there is no internet so the screens only work for basic functions. The machines are not clean and the room is not cleaned regularly. There is no water available or any changing facilities. There is no way of cancelling membership online which lead to me paying for time I did not use.”

“Bridgend district facilities are lacklustre. Bridgend centre has too many people and too few equipment especially at peak times. Ynysawdre is probably your best centre . Pontycymer is about right for the number of people and Pyle is just a joke of a gym. To put it quite bluntly there are far better gyms for better prices. I’m also of ill health so the inability to freeze my Membership for a week or 2 at a time just makes using halo difficult. I keep trying to come back to your gym.”

“The cleaning especially in the pool changing area needs improving, but overall it is okay. You need a gym manager, as classes are regularly not on the app, but are running. The staff are friendly, you have a good range of classes, and most of the equipment is good.”

“Staff are great and it’s generally good but the booking and strike system is a bit arduous and I wish we could use the sauna even when we can’t use the pool.”

At Halo, customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we always strive to provide the best experience for our valued customers. The reason behind not opening the sauna and steam room around our swim sessions is to allow the lifeguard time off the pool which by law they need to have a break every 1hr of supervision. Even though you say you are not using the swimming pool, we cannot guarantee customers wouldn't enter the water. We have taken the necessary action to close them both at these times. “I enjoy the classes that I go to, mainly Pilates and step. I look forward to the appointment of another Pilates instructor as I would like to take more classes. Currently the Thursday morning sessions are so popular it is difficult to secure a place.”
