About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“They are very helpful and friendly but water very cold sometimes”

“Have been using the gym at Halo for the last few months. Really enjoying getting fit again and now seeing results. All the staff are really friendly and helpful if needed. Do find the peak times tricky as it gets so busy which makes accessing the right machines difficult so would be great to have a larger space for more equipment.”

“From the supervisor that gave md induction for the mobility suite to the staff generally at Halo, I have no complaints but only rave! The centre has everything including superb views and a safe environment to complete your workouts.”

“Overall a good gym but a few issues. Some kit has been broken for months (leg press) and others in a poor condition (leg extension machine, lat pull down machine pads). Mens showers are low pressure which makes it time consuming to wash properly.”

“Really excellent value. Great staff who are overall super friendly and helpful. The centre is well maintained and very clean and recently upgraded in the gym. No complaints at all. Perfect for my needs”

“The centre is fantastic. I don’t live in Ross but visit every weekend after my parents moved there in December 2023. I have been coming to the centre and have been using the pool every week since January. It is impossible to book swimming at my local leisure centre so was so happy to find such a wonderful and accessible one in Ross. All the staff are lovely and the centre has a great atmosphere. The longer sessions on Sunday morning have been a very welcome change.”

“Great Community facility, nice pool. Negatives are cleanliness of gym equipment. For pool area it's dirty floors after the school kids and parents have been in the changing and shower areas with dirty shoes. Again toilets can occasionally be pretty disgusting after school kids. There doesn't seem to be any lane management which can be dangerous with slow swimmers not being asked to move into appropriate lanes.”

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the cleanliness of the gym equipment. We strive to maintain a high level of cleanliness and will address this issue promptly. Regarding the pool area, we apologise for the dirty floors caused by school kids and parents with dirty shoes. We will make sure to remind everyone to keep the changing and shower areas clean. We are also looking into improving the cleanliness of the toilets after school kids use them. As for lane management, we understand the concern and will work on implementing better organization to ensure a safe swimming environment. Thank you for your feedback. We are continually looking to improve our service and we will take your feedback on board to make changes where needed. In regards to the gym needing a refresh, we had a complete gym refurbishment 4 months ago and had all brand new equipment brought in to replace the old, as well as a few new bits of equipment.

“I enjoy the facilities at the Leisure Pool but an regularly frustrated with not being able to swim on my own timetable. The lack of choice of times is annoying”

Our Swimming Pool programme has increased over the last 12 months and being the main swimming pool for the County we also host over 30 Schools during the week which is fantastic that so many children get the opportunity to learn to swim with us. To cater for all parties we do have to have a structured programme and try to accommodate as many needs as possible. “The pool is excellent very clean , changing rooms are well maintained, all staff at the centre are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. When I use the gym the staff especially Theresa are first class , welcoming and very knowledgeable. As regards the equipment maybe a couple of more bikes would be nice as sometimes if you are following a set routine as you are often waiting for the one to become available. Receptionists are always there to give a warm welcome as you arrive, always friendly.”

“The centre's equipment is very limited and there is no internet so the screens only work for basic functions. The machines are not clean and the room is not cleaned regularly. There is no water available or any changing facilities. There is no way of cancelling membership online which lead to me paying for time I did not use.”
