About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Staff very helpful and encouraging. The lockers in the gym and pool area need regular attention many don't work. Otherwise my rating would be very good.”

“The gym equipment needs renewing. The weight labels have pretty much all fallen off the equipment. The seat leathers are splitting, some seats are unstable. The booking of badminton is biased, I book every Thursday, certain court at a certain time (all confirmed), I arrive for the session to be moved because other people requested that court and we HAVE to move. Not a great deal of help when a member of my team got injured, arrived with a note pad and took notes then left. We struggled to carry the person away and get her back to a car. The staff then comes running across the carpark, more worried about getting the ice pack back.”

“An excellent facility with comprehensive equipment, numerous activities and classes, family friendly environment and friendly, helpful staff. The repurposing of a historic building into a vibrant community space enhances my appreciation for this facility. The monthly membership fee is affordable and reasonable.”

“The range of classes and ease of booking is excellent. Staff are very friendly. It would be nice if teachers could introduce themselves to new members and they don't always ask about injuries. The environment is looking a bit tired, dark and dingy. Probably could use a bit of investment. Would also be good if it opened a bit longer on a Saturday afternoon to help working people.”

“Overall this Halo Leisure centre is good but there are some areas of improvement needed The main reception desk is often unattended and trying to speak to a member of staff is frustrating Life guards in the pool area are unfriendly and unapproachable which I personally find disappointing”

“I use the swimming pool alot, the staff are friendly and helpful. My only negative is that the ladies toilets and the showesr in the changing village could do with a deep clean, also the changing area often smells of urine.”

“Have been using the gym at Halo for the last few months. Really enjoying getting fit again and now seeing results. All the staff are really friendly and helpful if needed. Do find the peak times tricky as it gets so busy which makes accessing the right machines difficult so would be great to have a larger space for more equipment.”

“From the supervisor that gave md induction for the mobility suite to the staff generally at Halo, I have no complaints but only rave! The centre has everything including superb views and a safe environment to complete your workouts.”
