About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Albeit I am not receiving one-to-one sessions from the team. I have been provided with an exercise routine which the staff oversee by keeping an eye on me whilst I am working out. All the staff are helpful, cheerful and extremely supportive - they are a great asset to the Halo Centre in Bromyard.”

“Staff are great and always helpful and friendly. The machine sections are very poor, they tend to be low quality or don't have very much weight on them. The leg curl, lateral pulldown and seated row machines are particularly bad. I would have liked to have seen more of a variety of machines. Cardio selection is pretty good, as is the strength and conditioning area.”

“Nothing wrong with the center. I mostly use for swimming and have only left to join Nuffield where you can turn up at any time to swim rather than booking in to slots which is quite restrictive and aren't always convenient times.”

“Changing rooms for the pool are often dirty, lockers have rubbish in them, Male toilets often the floor is flooded. The Health suite jacuzzi has been out of operation for a significant period of time also the steam room is also often not working correctly if at all. Class booking in ap have no descriptions. Use of overshoes in the pool changing room is no existent or policed, but staff are just as happy to walk through in normal shoes as well as the general public”

“Staff always friendly and helpful plus visually friendly between themselves. One of the cleanest centres I have been to. Wish we had more options on different days for my chosen activities in the afternoons. However I’m very happy with what I currently do and miss it when I have to cancel or be away for one reason or another.”

“Maesteg Sports Centre is a lovely place to workout, with friendly staff that are always willing to help you out and give advice. Some gyms can be intimidating to go to at first but I never once felt that way coming here. Only thing I would suggest is that either air-conditioning is put in the front room where the seated rower is or some industrial fans to keep the room cool as its always very warm in there and during a heatwave it's even worse. Also people with heart conditions such as myself cannot regulate their own body temperature so this would be beneficial. Apart from that I always enjoy coming up to do my workouts.”

“Lessons very good but the centre itself not upto scratch Dirty mats need cleaning like wise the upstairs rooms maybe idea to put back the sterile sprays ??? Also seems whenever anything gets broken takes such long time to fix it the water tower in the gym not working ( if this was Hereford it would of been fixed) the water tower upstairs smells and is in a run down state not sure it's fit to drink very dirty. Also whenever we ask or put forward ideas to management at leominster falls on deaf ears . As I said the Lessons and instructors are good ,shame .”

“Everything is old dated not enough PtTs classses cancelled left right and Center and the showers next to the spin room have been out of order for over 3 months, it’s a disgrace and shambles, and both myself and my wife will be cancelling and moving to the new gym in Cwmbran, it cheaper and better equipped, I know there are no classes there but it’s gone that way at PALC! Plus changing rooms are cleaned at least once a year, total fed up with the overall standards and service”
