About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The swimming pool is ok the changing facilities and gym facilities could do with a bit of an upgrade but no complaints.”

“Really good gym. Locker situation is awful mind and amount of kids that are there jus to socialise hogging equipment can be off putting specially if your on a timescale Nd trying to get inn do what U got to do Nd go. Other excellent gym staff a great equipment great 👍”

Thank you for your comments and review. There are lockers provided in the men's and the family changing room for all to use. There are a few out which we are trying to source parts for. Our gym etiquette for users informs them if the gym is busy to limit their time to 20-30 minutes maximum. Some users do train together but we have instructors who are there to help and observe users to ensure correct usage of equipment and to ensure equipment is being used appropriately and in a timely manner. “I needed to get moving again after starting a fairly sedentary job. Not being focused (or fit) enough to take on regular disciplined gym sessions on my own I opted to go to one class a day. There is always a class I can book onto and if not the wait list really does work! Staff are helpful, knowledgeable and approachable and I have less aches and pains and already feel much stronger.”

“There are a lot of activities and the price is very reasonable. The gym doesn’t get too crowded at peak times. Booking in to use the gym and the strike system doesn’t make much sense. It should just be a membership scan on entry. The gym needs more machines/ equipment, such as a squat rack, an area specifically for deadlifting and punching bags. The sauna and steam room are really great.”

“Bridgend Halo Very much enjoyed Dance and Zumba classes this last week. Due to staff absences, Daria has been covering and it has been a nice change. Great music and routine and very enthusiastic. I am pleased that my regular classes have been covered and not cancelled. Thankyou”

“The facilities are great but sometimes they could be cleaner in the showers and changing cubicles. I do aqua twice a week but would love to have another session, I see there are 3 at other venues”

“Disappointed sometimes due to the lack of cleanliness and non operational toilets. Especially since the membership has gone up twice in last year!!Also lack of staff on duty especially at busy times - coffee serving!! Annoying!! Other than that friendly staff and good choice of classes.”
