I am someone with a bit of experience already and now have a better understanding of why you should do certain techniques for different situations within the classroom and I find learning about the history of different techniques very interesting.”

“I signed for the course cause I wanted to get more jobs and possibilities abroad. None of that happened. I am not a native english speaker and all the opportunities are for them even though they said the course would be useful for non native teachers. I though this certification would help me to boost my career and that didn't happen.”

“TLDR: You get what you pay for. The course is ok if you just want your certificate as quickly and cheaply as possible. However, if you actually need/want to learn how to be a proper TEFL instructor, you will likely feel insatisfied and underprepared for what lies ahead. Seems like this is course is mainly set up for native English speakers who already know what to do, but need a certificate of some sort to legitimize their work. The course is easy enough and provides a general overview/brief look into the world TEFL. However, after completion of the 240 hour course I don’t feel as though I have learned enough to walk into a classroom and start teaching. The various courses (teaching young learners, business English, etc.) have a lot of carry over, which at times honestly made me wonder whether or not I had accidentally clicked on a past module I had already completed. As another reviewer said, the initial price was reasonable. The problem is that they continuously claim various “limited time sales”, which gets incredibly frustrating when you purchase and then realize the price has dropped $20-$50 after a few days. On top of that, the course then continuously attempts to sell you additional, mostly unnecessary, items which should be included with the price of the course from the start(such as $15 for an enrollment letter, which is pretty much just a receipt...). To add insult to injury, many of the things they charge for, they will later offer for free assuming you perform a certain task... That’s actually why I’m leaving a review, so that I can receive “lifetime access” to my completed courses which would have otherwise cost me $149... Not everyone will book one of the internships offered, and may not instruct for a few months (or even longer), so it only makes sense to allow them continued access in the first place. Besides, any organization which cares about its students/clients, as well as how they perform and represent the brand in a classroom, should not only allow continued access but should encourage users to regularly browse though the material without having to pay the aforementioned fee. Being a native English speaker, and having a bit of experience teaching/guiding English already, the course was fine as I ultimately just needed an official certificate to further legitimize any instruction I do give. Were I an non native speaker, or someone who honestly hoped to go from zero experience/understanding to teaching in an actual classroom, I would feel drastically unprepared. Realistically, if you actually want to be a well prepared and properly trained teacher, you’d need to invest in a CELTA course; this course is mainly to give you an idea of whether or not you would enjoy TEFL, and get your foot in the door. I have friends who teach on various levels from basic English through a TEFL program, all the way up to foreign universities, and the ones who have taken a TEFL course tell of a very different system. Most did not receive their certificates until being thoroughly tested and even had to submit a lesson plan to be graded prior to “graduation”. The lesson plan was then riddled with feedback and they were required to adjust their plan accordingly. Although this would be more work than some want, it helps to help develop what is arguably the most important skill needed in order to be an effective and efficient TEFL instructor. My suggestions: - Decide on a fair price and stick with it. Stop alienating those who have already purchased in order to entice those on the edge. -Stop charging for every little thing, especially those which should come standard (and cost the company nothing), as it left me feeling like a pawn/piggy bank. -Allow “lifetime access” to the course from the start, so that students actually feel as though they have a home and that you actually care about their success and the success of their future students (regardless of how much additional money they pay). -Adjust the content to focus more on what instructing is actually like, what to expect, building crucial skills, and actually preparing people for what lies ahead. The course reads more like an extended informational brochure, rather than a detailed/hands-on instructional course. -Work in yoir support response time. I had issues with the course, website bugs, and various other questions, but getting them resolved often took considerable longer than seems reasonable. If I were leaving the country for the first time (or hundredth time really), and had an issue with a placement/internship, i would fee very uncomfortable knowing it could be days before I heard back from support staff. I was going to give 3 stars, which is accurate based on my personal experience, as well as my friends (I paid for her to take the course a few days after I started mine; the course fee dropped $30 by then...), but I decided to go with 4 so as not to negatively impact the overall rating. I suppose it highly depends on what you’re hoping to get out of the course. If you simply want the certificate as quickly and cheaply as possible (which is what I wanted), 4 stars seems reasonable (albeit a bit of a stretch), assuming you time the wild price swings well enough. However, if you actually want to walk out of what ever you are currently doing, and into a classroom full of open minds looking to you to help them meet their English goals, you will finish feeling a bit lost and underprepared for what lies ahead, and would likely consider 3 stars to be generous.”

“I've only gotten about halfway through my course, but so far I've been loving it. There's a lot of helpful information, guides, and activities to help with the learning (and later teaching!) process. I did the internship option (for Santiago, Chile). As a university student who was in the final semester and preparing for graduation, I found the placement fee part of the course tuition well worth not having to worry about finding a company to get connected with. I move in July!”

“Premier TEFL offers great access to teaching resources and a steady course structure. Their internship programmes are especially impressive to me, quick easy way to gain experience and have an interesting fun year. I will say the website is very glitchy and I've had several problems with it so far. “I have found the course easy enough to do. Not feeling entirely confident that it’s going to hold up on my CV and result in a job. I will find out soon. I saw another comment about internships. And I realise that the internships are only really for young people. Just pointing out that this can be a subtle form of discrimination. I realise that the visas are only for certain ages etc. However, some of the best teachers are older. Premier feels a bit gap year-ish. Having said that, I’m looking forward to making a huge life change and hope Premier is helping me get there.”
