“I am very disappointed in LED lights - I did have 12 v dichroic lamps and was quite happy but was then told that LED were much better and saved an awful lot of money? I have bought quite a few GU10 bulbs now the latest being 560 lumens and even they are no where near what I had before I started - not impressed at all - in fact I would consider reverting back but I had to enlarge the original hole to accommodate the new fittings? regards john”

“The LED lights were a good buy and am pleased with the 120deg light spread. The yellow colour isnt very yellow so the light given off is still quite cold. I paid extra for the dimmers, but the new dimmer switches I purchased couldnt handle the very low wattages. I've since replaced them all as I'm not happy with the quality of light given.”

“Reasonable quality product at a good price. Only problem is the spring retaining clips, they just aren't good enough. To fit the lamps the spring clips need to be pushed back just over 90degrees so the lamp can pass through the hole. Unfortunately the clips actually bend and do not return to their normal position to hold the lamp in place against the ceiling. I've had to fix mine from the loft side which I fortunately had access to.”

“The quality and pricing of the items that I purchased have very appearance of being good. However, when it came to delivery there were significan shortcomings. 2 orders were placed but on each occasion the item was out of stock pending new supplies and no attempt was made to inform me that there would be a delay (quite considerable) before delivery. I had to either phone or keep checking my order status. That is not good service. Added to which I was not impressed when my credit card was debited upon receipt of the order - some 4 weeks BEFORE despatch. The debit should not have been processed until the goods were available. It suggests a company with cash flow problems.”

“I did expect a delay because of the time of year, but was surprised to receive the message that the delay was because you were out of stock of the items I ordered! When I did phone, there was surprise, as if my order should have been despatched, and I did then get delivery. I hope it will not happen that way again... Regards Paul Spashett”

“Christmas and New Year obviously got in the way of prompt delivery for my first order to Wholesale LED Lights. My order, placed on 8th December, contained some 3 - 5 day delivery overhead from the manufacturers as well as normal delivery time. However, it did eventually arrive following the email saying it was being sent on 7th January. The dimmable 6W GU10 Cool White LED lamps, MSGU1027SMDCWSIM, are pretty good, especially bearing in mind the 120 degree beam angle, though I wouldn't use them on rotating machinery as they do strobe. The JPDP402 Dimmer Swithc is interesting, with an automatic learning mode it determines the type of load by itself, which initially caused a pulsing on and off. It has a built in ramp up/down time limiting the rate at which you can fade the lamps.”

“Delivery and price are good. I'm aware the company has no control over the design of the bulbs - but someone needs to ensure a consistency of design in LED bulbs. Many light fittings have multiple exposed bulbs. The bulbs are not as cheap as the old incandescent types, and they last a lot longer. So you might have a room with (in my case) matching ceiling and wall fittings using GU10 bulbs. 12 in total. I originally bought 12 bulbs and now, 4 years on, one has failed and although it's easy to buy the same technical specification, getting one with the exact same front plate is impossible, and the replacement doesn't match the others. Advice to buyers: buy 2 or 3 extra spare bulbs when first installing LED bulbs!!”

Hi William, Thank you for your review and the honest feedback. Like you say, it isn't something we have much control over. LED Lighting is fairly new and I think it will be a while before it becomes standardised. Part of the problem is that LED Lighting is still a 'developing' technology, so tomorrow's bulbs may not look like today's as developers and manufactures are always happening upon new ways to make the bulbs better, more efficient, brighter etc, which ultimately alter the design and physical appearance of the bulbs. “I ordered (amongst other things) 4x 6w gu10's They are certainly saving energy, as two of the failed within two days. The 4x 4w gu10's give light at the right temperature in the primary direction, but cast a horrible yellow glow around the edges; make the kitchen look nicotine stained.”
