“I asked my Year 5/6 class what they would take away from the experience. A lot said that they would take away how excited the soldiers were to go to war and then how depressed they became. Other points that they enjoyed: • opportunities for acting • understanding how it felt to be part of the war • loved the poetry that was chosen Other children said: ''I liked how we had to do the different actions, it was very interesting'' Year 4 ''I really enjoyed the group activities, working with my friends.'' Year 3 ''Learning about what happened during WW1 and WW2 was fun to learn about'' Year 4 ''I enjoyed the part where we had to copy the actions on the war posters'' Year 4 ''I liked reading the poems and creating the freeze frames'' AML Year 3 Overall, a huge hit. Thank you!”

“The children had a wonderful time during their sessions on the Stone Age and the Greeks. Keira was very professional and created a wonderful rapport with the children. The only thing the teachers thought may be an improvement was if the member of staff dressed up to match the specific era and if they could have brought some resources for the children to use e.g spears, stone tools, dressing up clothes etc.”

“We thought the instructor was great, but didn't really feel the content was as thought-provoking as it could have been or that it covered new areas that we haven't already discussed at school. When she asked at the end, 'What have you learned today?', the children found it hard to come up with ideas. Some children definitely enjoyed the drama aspect. The freeze frames all brought about similar responses.”

“The instructor was friendly and approachable, the children were pleased to engage with a different culture through dance. They rushed the session a little, finishing 15 minutes early, and our children found the dance moves difficult. We will ask West End in Schools back but we hope that the team will give our children more instruction in future to enable them to participate fully. Thanks for coming!”

“Jess was really lovely and great with the children. The session was more of a storytelling exercise than a performance which I was led to believe. Also, as a teacher, I find adding music or costumes to the role-play helps the children get into character.”
