The children enjoyed the drama event, however this was a story that isn't very well known. Despite reading the story a couple of times it is not accessible for our children especially children with EAL. The performance for the children at the end of the day didn't work for reception children as their workshop was at the start of the day so they couldn't remember anything. The facilitator changed the format for the 2nd day but admitted it was too difficult a story for ks1 and reception. The dance didn't really support the story.

Emily was a fantastic representative and engaged the children in the activities. The choice of stories suited our curriculum and the flexibility from West End in terms of timetabling for the day was great. Communication was prompt and the day was oragnised quickly. We thought that perhaps for the money that had been paid for the workshops, there might have been props or resources brought to enhance the sessions. We also perhaps thought that there might have been somthing given to the children or a simple follow up task/activity, given the expense of the day.

Lovely pantomime and the actors were incredible. We did feel it was pitched too high for our foundation stage 1 and 2 children (We did clarify at booking it would be suitable for our whole school). Our Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed it and were engaged.

The dance part of the workshop was excellent. This year we took part on a Friday so the children had a whole week's learning about Diwali under their belt. We didn't need the taught session as such but the actual dancing was brilliant and the children loved it.

Children and staff from Reception to Year 5 enjoyed the Diwali Dance Workshop but felt that the inclusion of the music could have been used throughout the experiance rather than just at the end for the final dance performance. They felt it would have assisted the children more with the dance and helped to create a better atmosphere.

Hayley was absolutely fantastic, a lovely person and provided a very engaging session for the children. However, we as teachers felt that the workshop could be improved with props, costumes and music. The content provided could have been delivered by a teacher and therefore we felt that, for the money paid, there should be some added extras that schools could not provide. We would have loved there to be more acting from the facilitator to really engage children into the world of the Romans.

Morning Sessions great. We were looking at timings and the provider suggested putting two classes together in the afternoon due to having a large space available. In hindsight the children probably didn't get as much out of the sessions as they would have by keeping them seperate and it was trickier to deliver. It would be more benefical to keep to the origional plan if we were to do this again.

Cara was really lovely, very good with the kids and knowledgeable about the olympics. I think there was too much crammed into an hour. There was a lot of choreography for the children to learn and not enough time to learn it in.

Not such a great session this year, perhaps the text was too complicated. There was a lot of talking and a lot for the children to try to remember and not much active participation.

We enjoyed the workshop but felt that it didn't bring any enrichment or resources that school do not already have.

The sessions were well organised and well led by the member of staff. However we felt that they could have included more strategies to help deal with bullying and given the children more advice.

The children had a wonderful time during their sessions on the Stone Age and the Greeks. Keira was very professional and created a wonderful rapport with the children. The only thing the teachers thought may be an improvement was if the member of staff dressed up to match the specific era and if they could have brought some resources for the children to use e.g spears, stone tools, dressing up clothes etc.

We thought the instructor was great, but didn't really feel the content was as thought-provoking as it could have been or that it covered new areas that we haven't already discussed at school. When she asked at the end, 'What have you learned today?', the children found it hard to come up with ideas. Some children definitely enjoyed the drama aspect. The freeze frames all brought about similar responses.

The information given was very topical and relevant for the children! It would have been great to make the workshop more interactive with more drama activities/ opportunities/ games for the children.

It was a lovely activity to part take in, however the behaviour management needed to be better. The children were getting a little bored and their behaviour started to slip. This meant the session wasn't as benefical for the children as I'm sure was intended.

The children enjoyed the dance and the leader was lovely with the children. The dance for Y2 was quite rushed, having sat then warmed up for 20 minutes out of the 35 minute session. For the price of each session, we felt that there should at least have been some props.

The children enjoyed their workshop - thank you. The facilitator was really enthusiastic and child friendly!! For younger children (Year 3 in our case) some photographs of the soldiers / posters would have been helpful as they were not familiar with all the language and these visual clues would have helped with their own ideas too.

Our dance teacher was very knowledgeable in terms of the story being shared with the children and had a calm and patient manner when delivering the workshop. For our very young Reception children there was a lot of sitting and listening at first which they found quite difficult, so perhaps a more active approach throughout the session would have helped to retain their concentration. All children however enjoyed the activity and followed the instructions to move in the manner modelled for each character from the story.

The actor who came was lovely with the children and they joined in really well. It was good to see them participating in drama activities, and showing off their knowledge of the topic, but was not quite what we had anticipated in terms of content. Key Stage 1 children don't need to do timelines, and quite a lot of the session was spent looking at Florence Nightingale's position in history. We had thought that perhaps there would be role play from 'Florence Nightingale', perhaps with artefacts, in appropriate costume. But the children enjoyed the workshop, and it made a change from sitting in their seats. It gave the teaching staff food for thought in how they might incorporate drama in future history work.

We had the Climate Change workshop, which was interesting, the children enjoyed the different freeze frames, however, we found that there were no resources, no props for the children to look at or use, it was mainly freeze frames and discussions, which we did not feel justified the price of the workshop and probably won't use again.
