Seem to have a cult following online but beware. The customer service veneer is significantly thinner than the material on their sofas! Like everyone else we were enthralled by Jowler Mill. What a wonderful place - totally enchanting and, seriously, I'd volunteer to work there. Same with their products - beautifully crafted and bespoke. What's not to Like? Well, their attitude to paying customer is shocking. We fell in love with a couple of sofas and fell for the spiel. Hook, line and sinker! A few thousand well spent we thought. Delivery in a few weeks at a fraction of the price we'd spent at Loaf. The salesman made reference to checking we could get the sofas into our property. Need 75cm to be sure. Oh no, our doors won't accommodate that. No problem get a window taken out when they deliver and Bob's your uncle. We'll no actually - the limiting measurement when going through anything other than a door is the height. In our case about 110cm. Try as they might and they were exceptionally patient and helpful (as was the glazier). No, no way, never going through that window ever! Swift call to customer services - no problem we'll just take it back for a refund. Ahhhh - wait a minute young person on end of phone - you don't make those kinds of decisions!!! Few minutes later - rang back by head honcho - can't take back unless we pay them £700 for them to remarked as it's bespoke!!! What a load of old tosh. So delivery made - VERY unhappy customers with several thousand pounds worth of sofas that will only fit in the bedroom!! Are we downhearted - no the daughter just has enough seating for 15 people in her bedroom. Moral of story - some people come across as all nicey nicey but when push comes to shove and money involved show their true colours. And they aren't nice!! Salesmen, delivery guys and craftsmanship excellent - 6 stars. People making the big decisions - zero rayed penny pinchers. And - just for reference - they have done themselves out of double the money because we would have spent a fortune in there again and again and again. NOT NOW!!

Without seeing your property in person we cannot determine whether the items will fit or not. Please do note, all bespoke purchases are non-returnable as per our terms and conditions, which will have been provided to you at the point of sale. In situations such as yours, we try and accommodate as best as we can. Your order was in Festival Blush, which is a colour we never usually sell, therefore in this case we agreed to accept the item back with a fee. If we took back all custom made sofas that did not fit through customers doors, we would not be able to sell these at the same original value they once were. The charge was applied to allow us to sell in our showroom at a discounted rate, as this is not a colour we would usually sell. I hope you can understand this. Ordered the sofas in late October, having been told online that the delivery eta was 4 weeks. Finally got a delivery date of 16/12. Sold my old sofa in preparation for delivery at 2:30 on 16/12, I was informed that the delivery wouldn’t take place and that the earliest delivery would be Thursday 22nd December (not ideal). Sofas arrived with damage to the base cloth of one of them and the other had clearly been quality inspected and x marks in blue biro to say where damage/marks had occurred. One side of the sofa is a different shape to the other Contacted vintage sofa company and they are sending someone out to repair base fabric and check the other issues. Just not what I expected when I spent just under £5k on sofas. So very disappointed

Good morning Tanya, Thank you for taking the time to do a review as we are keen to continue to improve wherever possible. Thank you for purchasing directly on our website on the 30th of October, the website states 6-8 weeks for a bespke hand made analine Oskar suite and 4-6 weeks as a fast track option. So really pleased that we did manage to deliver within these guidelines on the 22nd December. We are so sorry that your first delivery attempt was cancelled last minute and this was so upsetting - the week before Christmas was so busy and we tried to get the next nearest delivery slot (thankfully we managed to deliver the suite before Christmas) on the 22nd December. I'm so sorry that the black dust sheet lining on the base of the sofa was pierced during the delivery, the independent upholsterer will be able to replace this easily when they visit. The independent upholster will also look at your concerns regards the marks that you have you forwarded, the leather that you selected is a natural full grain aniline leather so has natural marks in the leather and not a corrective grain - the expert will be able to advise very promptly and we will endeavour to rectify any issues that may come to light. Just to assure you that none of our manufacturers use pen (to mark the sofas) as quality control. If you would like us to call and discuss further once the upholsterer has visited and made their report as we aim to close after care cases as soon as we possibly can.
Encouraged by the excellent reviews, I placed an order for a floor lamp late September. It’s November as I write this and I’ve not heard a word. Neither an acknowledgement for my order or an email to let me know of delays. Customer service is so important to a good purchasing experience and an inclination to recommend to others. On phoning to cancel the order, Sophie was lovely and got on with the cancellation but why on earth don’t you have a system that automatically acknowledges orders and lets the customer know if there are going to be lengthy delays.

Sales service was very good. After sales has been non-existant. We have an issue with the 2 seater insofar as the back legs are too short making the sofa lean backwards.....looks odd and is uncomfortable. I have sent 2 e-mails ( 1 auto reply) and made several un-answered 'phone calls

Thank for taking the time to write a review Stephen. We use feedback to constandly improve our service and went back to the manufacturers and showroom team in this case. Stephen recieved a refund.
Ordered a sofa in 2020 (special size) - product delayed because of Covid which is totally understandable. Two sofas delivered that weren’t the correct sofa. new sofa found and delivered but this time with wrong base. After going backwards and forwards it was agreed a new base would be made and a technician sent to fit (second lock down delayed this until last week) old base removed, new one was offered up but is too big…old base put back but now damaged…both emails to store asking for refund or total replacement ignored, so as of Friday 23rd July I will be entering a claim through the small claims process. Happy to provide pictures

We hold up our hands and unreservably apologise to Craig, he experienced hiccups with his order not up to our usual high standards of service and we sincerely apologised and have resolved this for Craig.
I followed this company for months before finally visiting the mill. I liked the fact they looked like a family run small company. The service in the mill was great placed my order and paid upfront for a sofa 2 chairs and a footstool. I was told the sofa and chair would be delivered in time for Christmas as they were in stock. The other chair and footstool were special order so would be 12 weeks. Was told that covid wouldn’t affect my order as the tweed is made in Scotland and manufactured in uk!! I didn’t get my first delivery for xmas and had to chase. My chair and footstool turned up 6 months later. Wrong bespoke chair and wrong feet on footstool. Told I would have to wait up to another 30 weeks to get the correct chair!! I was not an unreasonable customer at any point. Tried to communicate with the family who run the business. Unfortunately they don’t deal with any after sales service. Maybe something to look into as the company have so many happy customers with the only complaints being from after sales. Such a shame I have ended up taking a refund so I don’t have to deal with them anymore. It shouldn’t take many days to reply to a simple email. Great products. Hopefully service will be better at top secret furniture who sell similar stuff
