We have a Viessmann boiler which we have had faultless service from over the last 10 years. I simply can’t fault it. It’s been brilliant.
We were recommended a Vitodens 111-W (£2200) for our new property in 2014. All new system - pipes and radiators with a "great boiler". Paid for the works - magnaflow, additional filters, inhibitor. Serviced every year. 3 years in (2017) - F2 fault (pretty common, google it). Viessman engineer turned up and firstly said it should be condemned, and then said needed a new heat exchanger. This was replaced and he wrote all over the paperwork "Warranty cancelled". This was yr 3 of a 5 yr warranty and Viessmann told me I could have 10!

The engineer said the fault was "Crap in the system" - when I asked how (new pipes, new radiators) he said the plumber probably put it there for business.

Since then hot water sensor went (water only heating to 20C) in 2018, and heat exchanger again in 2020 along with sensor again. We are now stuck with a boiler that often F2s.

I cannot recommend enough that you buy a different brand. The repair guy from Viessmann was terrible and rude (did I mention it took 7 days to get the part - no heating or water for 7 day in Feb!). The boiler is clearly unreliable. Yes it may be one of a dud batch but do you want to take that risk when paying £2200?? I won't be again
New Boiler started off to flying start. Now second time without hot water.
So frustrating! Filters fitted to H2O supply system drained flushed x4 times problem persists.

Very disappointed in the overall fitting of my boiler. I bought the boiler to replace a 15+ year old boiler and after have the new one fitted I wished I stuck with the old. The mess left by the fitter; large crumbling hole in the kitchen wall (that my dad had to fill/plaster) is still crumbling onto my kitchen worktop, a myriad of pipes (that the old boiler never had) taking up large amounts of room in my already small kitchen, random pipe that is not attached to anything just left poking out of the kitchen work top and finally the noise it makes every so often is loud enough to be heard upstairs. For the considerably amount of money spent in the system I am sorely disappointed and local tradesmen who have been in and seen the result (plumber and electrician) are shocked at the quality of the work.
so far appears to be a good boiler. well installed by proficient engineers. The temp controller does need a bit of understanding, but once mastered is good. had mine finally commissioned January 2019, with 10-year guiarantee

i am looking to install a new combi boiler and am in the process of researching the various options.

something i find worrying here is the corporate stock reply from veissman to poor reviews.
clearly there's a problem with the control system being unfit for purpose but no solution is offered.

just how many bad reviews does a company need to have before they take the appropriate action to fix the problem?

these are clearly good efficient boilers but i'm not prepared to take the risk of having a control system i am unable to operate.

has the control system been greatly simplified on the latest domestic models?

furthermore, people are talking of a 10 year guarantee but, from what i have read, this seems to have been reduced to seven years in the uk. is this the case and if so why?

The control system has been updated on the Vitodens 200-W and all other domestic gas boilers in our range comes with documentation on how to work the control system. Alternatively, there is information provided on our website if needed.

The 10 year extended warranty is offered across our Vitodens 100-W and 200-W range as long as the boiler has been installed by a Viessmann trained installer. The Vitodens 050-W comes with a 7 year extended warranty unless the installer you have selected has contract support from ourselves and can therefore offer a 10 year extended warranty.

Still early days yet, but so far, the boiler works well, is simple to operate (as is the wireless heating controller) and provides plenty of warmth to our home.

The advice I received from Viessmann before buying was sound, and the recommended installer was great, being able to solve all the problems of our system to retrofit a Vitodens 111, which has been trouble free since installation in September 2019.

I am very satisfied with the quality of the Viessmann boiler, however, I am less than satisfied with the installation done by their Contractor/Sub-Contractor. It was my intention to have the boiler fitted in my garage but I was strongly advised against this "due to the presence of electrical installations". As a result, the boiler was installed in my kitchen, resulting in a kitchen wall unit destroyed, broken tiles, exposed pipework, exposed plasterwork, other damage and reduction in sink draining board area. Opinions given by other tradesmen suggest that garage installation was not a problem, especially if a site survey had been undertaken before commencement of work.

As the installation company are not a direct employee of Viessmann, I would advise going straight to them with any issues or complaints yo have as they would be best to respond and help.
