“It isn't that Van Compare have poor customer service, but that all insurers rip off even well behaved motorists. I've been driving since the late 1980's and have never made a claim. I have been van sharing for some years, being kinder to the environment in doing so, and last had my own policy, with van compare 3 1/2 years ago, and have been a named driver on another van compare policy since. Now that I have to take out my own policy again I am being effectively fined with a policy more than double what I should be paying as I have lost my 9 years no claims. This amounts to more than I pay for gas and electricity per year! You'd think Van compare would do something about this unfairness, but they say their hands are tied on this as they are just the brokers. If we want to encourage people to van and car share to reduce emissions, the insurance industries urgently need to change their policies on this. Meanwhile this particular customer feels shafted.”

“Millicent was very helpful and patient. I would have given you as a company 5 stars but I have one negative comment to make. Having just completed a reasonably detailed on-line application form, it is disappointing to have to go through so many of the same questions again. Then there is the tedious recorded disclaimer message at the end. I didn't listen to it as I am sure most people don't, surely there is a better way of getting these messages across. Under GDPR and plain English regulations, I can see this mechanism being challenged in court at some time in the future!”

“They are the worst company you can get a quote with, customer service if I could give - 5 stars, they are rude and try to get every single penny from you. Never ever had such a bad experience like this before. Never going to recommend to anyone as well I felt I was a criminal on the phone the way the treat me because they couldn’t match the same price from online. Over £200 more than the actual online price very poor experience.”

“JUST BEEN RIPPED OFF BY VAN COMPARE DIRECT !!, FOR ALL CUSTOMERS BE AWARE OF THE CANCELLATION FEES!!! TAKEN OUT A VAN INSURANCE LAST WEEK BY MISTAKE, TO FIND I WAS ALREADY COVERED WITH ADMIRAL INSURANCE UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST 2019, I ALSO RECEIVED THE RENEWED VAN INSURANCE COSTS FROM THEM DIRECT, WHICH ARE LOWER THAN VAN COMPARE DIRECT QUOTATION. I WANTED MY CREDIT CARD PAYMENT ( WHICH WAS PAID IN FULL LAST WEEK) PAID BACK , TO FIND A £ 85.07 CANCELLATION FEES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS NEVER EXPLAINED WHEN TAKING OUT THE VAN COVER WITH VAN COMPARE DIRECT BEWARE, IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, VAN COMPARE DIRECT WILL MAKE YOU PAY DEARLY !!!! DONT USE THEM !!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING,”
