“delivered when arranged .. 10 out of 10 expected cracks in beam .. no problem there 10 out of 10 BUT .. ends of beam not cut square and also one end of beam not planed smooth so had to be cut off .. so loss of length ok for me as i have woodworking tools .. but if you are expecting a beam to be ok to be used as delivered .. forget it cheap .. but as always .. you get what you pay for”

Firstly, thank-you for your feedback. We always appreciate customer taking the time to leave us feedback so we can improve our products and customer service. We're very sorry that you weren't satisfied with the finish of your beam. The beam you purchased was a planed only beam which do require further work, sanding and finishing. This is reflected in the price. We feel that this is made clear in the item description and photo's. If you are looking to purchase a beam that requires no further work, we would certainly advise that you go for one of our fully finished oak fireplace beams, expertly finished by ourselves.

“I ordered a solid oak beam for above my fireplace. I received a fantastic product. The beam was finished perfectly and looks amazing. The fixings and instructions were easy to use. There are only two fixings but this is more than enough to hold up this very heavy beam. I am extremely happy with the product and would have no hesitation in recommending them.”

“Lovely quality beam which was well dressed. The beam also had fixings for the wall and was prepared to accept the fixings so all in all my purchase was excellent.”

“Beam very nice, thank you. Holes were drilled for four fixings etc. Only needed to use two which was OK. It would be very difficult to align four holes to four std fixings. Have u tried milling slots rather than drilled holes, this might allow tolerance for location on a six foot beam. Best regards Frank Gibbs”

“Traditional Beams have a very good website which gives a wide range of options to specify a beam and is easy to use. I ordered a 5' fireplace beam in unfinished oak and was very pleased with the product when it arrived - it was nicely finished and the oak had great character. The service was very quick and the packaging & courier excellent. Highly recommended.”
