It has been about 6 months since I used this company's service and I nearly decided not to review, but I think I would be doing a disservice to anyone in a vulnerable position. I made a blunder - I agreed to use the first company I called (this company, The Pest Control Co) without doing further research, that's on me, I panicked and choose poorly. The company calls the people the send out 'experts' but I would refrain from calling them that. When the worker arrived, I asked him to treat two rooms, he checked the bedroom and limply agreed to treat it. He then checked the living room and specifically the couch, per my request. He assured me that the couch is clear and there was no need to treat it. After treating the bedroom and charging me an ungodly amount + VAT, he left. Being a worrier I didn't want to sleep in the treated bedroom so I decided to sleep on the couch that night - after all, it was deemed clear. Safe to say that before this ordeal I was no bedbug expert, however, I couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't over: I slept poorly, scratched all night and dreamt of bedbugs. To calm myself, I decided to inspect the couch again. The following part is nightmare fuel; what I discovered was that every seam of the couch was full of bedbug eggs and nymphs, all the throws, cushions and crevices were crawling with adult bedbugs, the inside of the couch was riddled with bedbugs. Furthermore, I found them crawling in my office chair, but suppose that's besides the point - I didn't ask the worker to check other rooms, or is making sure the infestation is contained a job for the worker who is allegedly an 'expert'? Who can tell. After my couch discovery I called the company (The Pest Control Co) and told them everything, the worker came next day to treat the living room and the couch. He then charged me another ungodly amount + VAT and left. At the time, I didn't know much about bedbugs and what the correct course of actions should be, I do now. When The Pest Control Co worker treated my bedroom and living room I was not told a shred of information on what I should be doing to aid infestation clearance, apart from "don't vacuum or mop floor for 28 days" (unsure why 28 days, their egg lifecycle is shorter). I was not told that I should be sleeping in my bed for the first couple of weeks to lure them out (so they get in contact with poison), I was not told of any existing traps I could use to prevent being bitten, I was not told of correct temperature in which to wash my linen and clothing (he said 40, but that is false, 40 may kill adult bedbugs but eggs need higher temperature). After this unfortunate experience I found a different pest control company who have done an incredible job, incomparable with The Pest Control Co. It has taken a long 6 months of treatments, clear outs, washing, steaming, ironing and crying to resolve this problem, and The Pest Control Co has only contributed in ungodly expenses, additional stress and prolonged mental health issues (surprisingly, having bedbugs is not good for your mental health, yes). I would very strongly suggest avoiding this company for pest control services, they are not coming to solve an infestation problem, they are coming to treat a room, charge a lot of money and leave (negligence aside of course, I turned out to be the better expert in this case).

If possible, would you be able to give us a call Viktorja? Six months of treatment to one property, is almost unheard of when treating bedbugs. As far as we were aware, due to having no further correspondence with yourself, the bedbug problem had been resolved following our technician carrying out the treatment, six months ago.

Not happy with the way Nigel said the room was cluttered when I was told on the phone it would be fine as long as there’s floor space I have mental health problems and being told it cluttered multiple times has set me back sure won’t recommend this company leat alone use it again if needed the job been done let’s hope it was worth the two hundred plus’s pound

Charged me £72 to be at the property for 10 minutes and didnt carry out any work apart from a quick look around the property (approx 3 mins). Website suggests free call out however they said what they did required a 'survey fee' so watch out this on the website as its not strictly true

As per our telephone conversation, on the initial booking our booking agent advised that as the property was a three storey house, our technician may have difficulty accessing the entry point. Due to this, you were advised that a survey charge would be implemented at a cost of £60 plus the VAT, before the booking was confirmed. Our website advises of a free quote, which is provided through our free telephone number. We apologise if there was a misunderstanding.

I have never felt so ripped off. Man arrived, looked up at the tree, told me there’s no nest because they’re forging wasps, and left 5mins later me having paid £72 and still with all the wasps. Do not use unless you can see a nest!!! What a rip off. Definitely should have called one with no call out fee. Will never use again!!

Good Afternoon, we are sorry to receive this review. As explained during our most recent telephone conversation. On the initial call our operator advised there would be a survey charge of £60 plus the VAT, if there wasn't a nest to treat. This was explained before confirming the booking with yourself. All our calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes, therefore we are able to forward this recording on via email to yourself, if you wish. All of our technicians have tracking on their vans, we have taken a look to see how long the technician was on site, and can confirm that he was there for a total of thirteen minutes. As there was no nest to treat, we feel that the technician was on site for the required amount of time. If you do wish to discuss this any further, please call us.

I voiced I was uncomfortable with the use of snap traps to catch one mouse but felt a bit pressured into paying for it to be done. £180 for 4 kill traps that are worth £7 from amazon doesn’t seem fair to me. I assumed after agreeing on the phone for the assessment that the mouse could be taken care of on the day and also that the traps wouldn’t kill the mouse. I tried to get a refund over the phone but was told I couldn’t due to the work already being done etc. I understand it was my own fault for agreeing, just like the woman said over the phone to me, it’s a learning curve and I will deal with it myself in future and not get myself into debt over 4 mouse traps.

Thank you for your feedback. However we can never guarantee that a rodent is going to be caught on the day. Therefore the next option is either traps or poison. On this occasion our technician had decided to place traps down. Our aim is offer excellent customer service, and problem free. I had thus company out for vermin control(rats)in my attic ,on return visit was informed there was no activity. ,I still have said vermin now running it seems through my property walls and /or spaces between ceilings of rooms have been unable to contact the company on phone number supplied on invoice. At £162 this is an extremely high price for a problem not solved. Presently too scared to sleep and its affecting my mental health. At a time when I have just lost my husband this is not acceptable. Would not recommend using this company at all.

Called today and spoke to a lady, explained to the lady about my problem, she was so rude, no need for it at all. Listen to my call and you will hear how patronising she was. Only left one star because no option to leave none.

Although based in Malden they refused to come out as far as Latchingdon just 5 mikes away because their technician who covered this area had left! 5 mikes?!?

Rather than booking in any works that we would then need to cancel. We felt it was better to be upfront and honest by telling you the truth, that we were unable to carry out works for yourself in your area, due to the technician not being available for work at this time.

I have had 2 visits from this company as I have a problem with wasps. They have gone worse than better and are in the same place. £90 paid out for nothing. I have contacted the CEO as i want a refund as I've paid for nothing and if I dont get a refund I will be contacting trading standards as you are supposed to be a pest conttol company but that isn't the case as far as I'm concerned.

Could you please take a look at the paperwork you have for the works and check that it is ourselves? If it is not, could you please remove this published review. Absolutely rubbish at killing wasps. Theres more than ever. Don't even think they use pesticides. More like talc. They charge a fortune for nothing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF

Would not recommend , the company does not appear to honour their commitment to appt times . The first appt was cancelled ten minutes before they were due to arrive , reason given : the operative was too busy with a previous job . Re-scheduled for two days later , again receive a phone call five minutes before appt to say operative failed to turn up to work . This is at ten to four in the afternoon , I’m assuming they knew the operative was absent in the morning ? Therefore not giving us the opportunity to arrange with another company . The person calling to cancel was very rude .

Would not recommend. I phoned to have a discussion before I booked in and was on the phone for about 15 seconds as clearly all the lady wanted to do was book me in for a fixed quote - the problem being that not every infestation is the same and I would rather discuss the nuances of my situation rather than just received a “one size fits all” approach service.

I am not happy with the service I can still see fleas round and still biting.. why did I pay £252 for if we still suffering from the fleas bite and how can someone just do their job soo quickly within 15 minutes when I have 3 bedroom house... am really upset and I hope you do help me out with this problem... I got kids in the house

Hi, We have looked into this issue, we only visited the site on Wednesday 5th January, as our technician advised you that with fleas it requires time for our treatment to work. Unfortunately, activity can continue for a minimum of 10-14 days, hence why our technician has asked you to not vacuum for 14 days also. I called the pest company after having some building work done at home I suspected rats underneath the floor £180 later and all that was done put boxes around the exterior of my house, nothing under the floor boards or in the loft space I can now hear them in my loft and possibly the wall cavity’s after a follow up phone call he said to leave it another week before coming back out at a further cost £75. I have recently had my house rewired and worry they are chewing through cables. I am lay awake at night listening to the noise. The reason I paid a company was for extensive treatment and removal yet I feel I could of bought boxes off Amazon for £20 and done it myself. I now feel like I need to find another company to complete the work I have already paid for!! Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied.
