I ordered around 6-7 boxes of Crayfish (all for 120 pounds per case) and early delivery for an event I was throwing on Friday evening 7/10 - 22. The package was delayed and when I called the delivery service they said that the society had not paid or ordered quick delivery, which is astonishing since I paid for early delivery. Very nice staff and they tried to help me over the phone but explained to me in the end that nothing could be done. The crayfish ended up coming when the event started, which was very stressful for me and the hotel staff, and we also risked serving 'bad' crayfish considering the crayfish had to be heated more quickly than we wanted and not defrosted slowly over several hours. The point being is that The Fish Society were very kind when I called and they tried to help me, I am just disappointed with what the delivery service told me. Furthermore, I have not received a formal apology email from them.

Hi Olivia, We obviously found the situation we were in with your order on Friday deeply regrettable and sincerely hope you and the team were able to complete your event successfully. We'd hoped to be in touch sooner with answers on how this occurred and have been waiting for DPD to provide an update, unfortunately despite pressure on our side we are still waiting. We suspect they may have potentially reclassified your postcode recently without informing us of any service changes. This would be an incredibly rare occurrence but might be an explanation. Attached (in the email) is a screenshot of our processing screen which goes through to DPD. As you can see this was scheduled for a 'By Noon' delivery. The only words we have had from DPD is that there were delays getting into the Dundee depot, additionally the depot manager wasn't forthcoming with several requests from our account manager for a 'Manual POD' (service change) delivery of your order, this wouldn't have had your order with you for 1pm but not long after. It is never our intention to let a customer down but errors, technical or otherwise, are something we begrudgingly have to live with from time to time. We truly make every effort to put things right when an error does occur and hope you feel we made that effort. We appreciate any offer doesn't make up for these events but we would like to give you you a goodwill gesture and will of course be refunding the delivery aspect of your order. Dear Fish Society, my markings are not a reflection on you but on DPD. We were in at the time of delivery but the only contact made was via e-mail (rather than by the more conventional ringing of the doorbell). My wife has also reminded me that the last order we placed was delivered to our next door neighbours. Mark Sanderson

The delivery was left at my gate. I have no notification of delivery. When I found it the food was almost defrosted. Could have been a total order wasted > £50.

This is the first that we have heard of your dissatisfaction, Kerri. DPD always text and email your one hour delivery window and again to let you know that the delivery has been made. There were absolutely no instructions with it to help use the kit. As a result the rice disintegrated. The fish slices were too thin to make sushi nigri out sashimi, they were fine for sushi rolls though. I would not order this again.

Took 4 days to respond to the complaint then standard response saying the weight was on the website, if you had advertised it was mostly skin I don't think you would have many orders!

Very expensive, even with 20% off. Very poor quality on some products such as the fish cakes. Even the nicer things like the fish pie don’t justify the price.

Delivery was very poor. The ice packs were no longer frozen and the delivery was made to the wrong address. Once I reported this, the package was collected and thrown over the back gate. It was not found for some time and was left lying in the sunshine. In this heat your packaging is not up to the mark and this fish was for the owner of the Summerhill House who spends a huge amount of money buying your products. I cannot take the risk of serving fish which is not suitably packaged for delivery, therefore doubt that I will be buying from you again, unless things are improved.

The lobster was very small, I’ve up loaded a photo. The large lobster that I ordered and paid for is on a side plate which is pictured next to a normal sized dinner plate for context

I ordered a variety of items. I found that it was very difficult to order as I registered and returned to order a day later. I don’t believe that I received the “special offer” or “reduced” prices. Although the sardines, whitebait and spicy prawns were of good quality and size. The two dressed crabs were shockingly very small (should have been returned to the sea to grow on) and and the two pots of potted shrimp were extremely small and not worth purchasing. So this was overall not a very good experience.

Hello Martin Most shipments arrive frozen. Those that don't should be cold to the touch. If that's the case it is perfectly safe to refreeze. If that was not the case then please call us on 01426 687768 or email us at customerteam@thefishsociety.co.uk
