“Very clean website to work from, my tutor Steve was very rapid in response and very detailed useful feedback on all my written assignments. Some of the video lessons seemed a bit dated in terms of the technology but nothing that impairing to my learning. Overall, no complaints really!”

“My tutor Alex has been a real help. He was somehow strict, but very reliable. Thank you Alex for your support! I am however disappointed because the course materials are not available for a long period of time, or for life like other providers offer. You get to have access to the resources only for 6 months which is not very helpful and supportive for a new teacher. I hope that changes in the future.”

“Overall the 120 hour certification class I took was interesting, challenging, fun and sometimes frustrating. While TEFL does provide a tutor whom you can email and the ability to ask questions online of peers, it would have been nice to have a more immediate form of feedback for questions. That being said I understand that logistically that would be difficult. It doe seem somewhat dated and there were various typographical errors. I am excited to begin my English Teaching career and I feel that TEFL Org and all the services and information they provide will help get me there.”

“Generally, the course is very good and insightful into becoming a good teacher. There are, however, some details that I would change. In my experience from speaking to numerous young people on the app hellotalk, I have rarely come across telephone lessons (although I could be wrong in other settings). I believe that since Covid, they have mostly moved to zoom or microsoft teams. I believe that a short video course introducing one of these platforms would be beneficial as they all have similarities and need training. I would have benefited from an example of a zoom lesson. Some of the lessons seem a bit dated as the students mention their iphone 6. I would update this as it comes across as being old fashioned. The audio in one or two lessons was very quiet so I could not hear the student's answers although I am not sure whether this was done deliberately.”

“I would have liked to have had something more interactive with regards to undertaking lessons, maybe via skype with the tutor, not just writing lesson plans for assignements. I felt the "teaching larger classes" course was not covered in enough depth and having researched this it appears that this has been highlighted often over the years and obviously not been addressed. It was quick and easy to go through the courses and I was surprised how many times the tests could be re-taken.”

“Very good experience. The online course was very well structured and easy to use. I was pleased that the assignments weren't simply rubber-stamping exercises-if you needed to improve an answer, you were told so by your tutor.”

“I really enjoyed the course, although it was not easy to do, but overall the most useful part was the methodology and the grammar options. As I had no previous knowledge or teaching methods I found this interesting but very challenging. The grammar was an excellent reminder for me as I found I did forget what certain things are called and just made me think in slightly different terms of how I speak every day. The tutor was quite helpful as well with her suggestions. The only items I found would benefit from a definite update to the course are telephone and video teaching as some information is certainly out of date since the course was written and I felt it did not need to be separate, but probably better absorbed as part of video observation module or even within methodology. In any case, I will probably take one other short course at a later date. Thank you very much.”

“The video instruction was very practical and informative. Having one person assigned to look over my assignments and answer any questions was also good. The only module that was not current was the telephone teaching course. There are many newer technologies now that need to be included. Perhaps in the future add a course on teaching phonetics and perhaps one on teaching people with little to no English.”

“I really enjoyed my experience with TEFL.org! I thought the modules were easy to follow and also well organized. I also found the classroom example videos to be really useful and informative. I will say, sometimes when trying to move on to the next module, the website would restart and take me back to my dashboard page (This was a bit annoying). Also, there were a few spelling errors within the modules, which did come across as a bit unprofessional. Overall, I did enjoy TEFL.org and I am glad I chose this program!”

“On balance the course was good although I felt I learned more about the actual delivery of the material from the day course than the online material. I commented at the end of each segment that I felt the quizzes were at time patronising and that overall the course was not that challenging. It was a shame that every demonstration video worked with a class of people who had good English. Finally I felt the teachers in the demonstration videos should have been personally miked.”

“It was a good introduction to teaching English as a foreign language. It did include some parts that I found to be irrelevant, since I understand what environment I would be teaching in. For example, there were courses on teaching English over the phone and in big classroom settings, which I know wouldn't be as relevant in the small classroom I will be teaching in. This said, it was still helpful overall, since I never know where my career heads.”

“I feel the last course on "telephone marketing" needs to be updated. Most of the classes held online are done on zoom and google meets these days. The information on using skype or voip on a one on one tutoring session is a bit dated there and having multiple students on the zoom call should be the focus rather than just one on one. Companies like Lingoace have proliferated during the pandemic and they specialize in offering group online courses.”

“Enjoyed the course, relearning the English grammar in an alternative way. I found however that I could not grasp easily the PPP planning as the difference to each stage was never that clear to me. Perhaps it was more me, than the teaching itself, but I found it confusing”

“The course was good and helpful, overall, although I noted some errors within the course. For example, in Unit 3, Module 13, there is a production note, "need help with this table" (there are a couple more production notes in other places, too, along with multiple comma splices that should be fixed).”
