“I very much enjoyed working my way through the 120 TEFL course. It has a well delivered format which quickly becomes familiar and easy to use. The grammar course was good revision and in fact helped to better my understanding of tenses and aspects and compare those of our English language in relation to my learning Spanish. Having the correct terminology in mind really assists in teaching English as a foreign language. Using classroom lessons in the course provides a useful insight and I found them were very much in line with my own primary school teaching experience albeit with the emphasis on language development. For me, the self study, taking my time to make notes, watch and replay these videos was a real bonus bringing the course alive. My tutor Thomas was attentive, encouraging and knowledgeable, always giving a few more examples relevant to the areas covered in assignments, along with any gentle correction where necessary. Thank you! I would definitely recommend the 120 hour course to anyone who wants to further develop their teaching or indeed to veer onto a different path.”

“The course was comprehensive and beneficial. I liked the variety of topics and lesson methods. The classroom videos were also really helpful. However, I didn't like how the interaction went with my tutor. I felt like interacting with a robot. I also felt like my hours of work werent appreciated. I would suggest a video meeting between the tutor and students to make the experience better”

“I recently completed the 120hr TEFL language course. It was an enriching and fulfilling experience. The course layout was well-organised, allowing for smooth transitions through the modules. The content provided me with a solid foundation for teaching English as a foreign language.. The main positives that stood out were the combination of readings, videos, quizzes and assignments keeping myself engaged and motivated throughout each course. Additionally, feedback from a qualified instructor adds authenticity and experienced guidance for future development. A potential improvement for the teaching large classroom module and teaching online one to one module would be to add real-life presentation examples. These are shown in the other three modules through classroom presentations, acting as good visual aid for assignment preparation. Overall, I would highly recommend this TEFL course as a foundation for anyone looking to pursue teaching english abroad.”

“I really enjoyed my 120 hour TEFL course and would thoroughly recommend it. I especially liked the teachers and the students in the vidoes, and felt I was a part of their classes. I also had positive interactions with my tutor. In terms of criticism, I would cite the following points in how the curriculum was lacking, in my opinion: 1. Verb inflections, verb tenses, regular and irregular verbs. All of these points were not easily grasped. I had to go online and find a youtube video on tenses, and I used that as my teaching tool. I did not understand inflections, and if you asked me to put my finger on my throat and tell you whether it was vibrating or not, I could not. 2. Phonology, the Schwa Sound, the phonemic chart, word stress, sentence stress, intonation: all very difficult to understand and not thoroughly explained. To learn all of these, a student would need to go to another source to find out information. 3. Teaching young learners assignment 9.16: It took me four tries to get this. Granted I learned that i was missing a simple thing to convey knowledge, but it took me several attempts to pass.”

“Overall I enjoyed the course and found it helpful. The feedback on lessonplans helped my confidence tremendously. I did find the online section outdated. I believe these courses were recorded in 2017, and technology, and online communicatin especially, have changed since then. I was sceptical that the techniques and programs I was learning about were still being used. I also would have liked to have seen classroom content with more varied classes. Almost all examples were with the same group of people, the same age, and the same situation. I would have liked to have seen highschoolers, young children, a very large class, in general more variety. I also found the section about classroom management unhelpful. Seeing a staged video of studnets pretending to be disruptive and then immediately stopping after the teacher says something was unhelpful. I found the quizzes were helpful with staying engaged and retaining information.”

“The course (I took the 120 hour version) contains a great deal of valuable information. There are several points that might be considered in future versions: 1) in the grammar section, I believe the passive voice needs to be included. 2) in the phonology section, use of the phonemic symbols could be helpful, but there wasn't enough effort made to teach them or refer to places where we could learn them. Should we be teaching this alphabet to students? Unless, they are really linguistically inclined, I question the value of doing so. 3) a great deal of focus is placed on planning lessons. But I believe it would be quite useful to talk about the materials one is likely to encounter as a TEFL teacher. How do you plan lessons in the context of textbooks or other materials that may typically already be in use at the school? It seems to me that most schools will have developed a curriculum for teaching English and we would be expected to work within that framework. 4) I believe it would be useful to make weekly calls with the tutor a part of the course. 5) while no one likes to be bored, I found the constant emphasis on making lessons "fun" to be misplaced. Every effort should be made to engage the students, but I believe it is as important to focus on the motivation necessary to get students through those parts of the language such as learning irregular verbs which are unlikely to be fun. 6) I think it might be useful to include a two or three hour discussion or seminar on first steps towards finding a job as a part of the overall course.”

“The TEFL Org have created a good learning site with videos, quizzes and assignments online. It is a good way of trying something else alongside other jobs, to start and create something new for the future. The tutors could improve their way of feedback as I often felt mine was writing off a already written text, not replying to my questions nor giving me constructive feedback on how to improve.”
