“It has been great experience being with the course. Mostly organised and approachable. Only tiny thing is about saving your assignment that It made me frustrated when you are writing one or two sentences you should save it straight away. But sometimes you might forget and It means you will lose your assignment that work hard on it. I believe if It would be save automatically It helps a lots. Anyway thank you for everything.”

“Whilst I am a novice to teaching. I feel any course without any type of practical or group experience is pointless. The course teaches you to write a few lesson plans but you by no means have any real idea how to teach after 120hours. I certainly dont feel any more knowledgeable or confident I could walk into a classroom and teach. I beleive there is much more to teaching than this basic outline that is given. I am honestly concerned people are going out in the world and teaching off of the back of this course. Whilst that may say alot about me. I felt very dissatisfied what this course offered. Im glad I got it during a sale and not paid the full course amount. I dont wish to speak ill off TEFL. They gave me an opportunity and the course was accessible via pc and smart phone. The videos and all the aspects provided are clear ,well laid out and have good production.”

It sounds like you had chosen one of our online only courses, rather than a course that includes teaching practice. Although you'll find most employers will request a minimum of 120-hours of TEFL training, many do not require this to include any teaching experience. We train thousands of students a year who go on to live and work abroad successfully with their online only certificate. For our teachers that feel they would benefit from a teaching practice though, we offer combined and stand-alone courses with this. “The 130 hour course was great to start with. The different modules had some easy and complex assignments though. My tutor was so helpful especially when I did not do some of the tasks right.”

“Interesting, engaging and thought-provoking courses. I was coming back to TEFL after a long time teaching in other disciplines, and I found the course intellectually challenging. “The course was certainly helpful in how to better learn to become an English as a foreign language teacher. The assignments weren’t impossible but still challenging, and the tutor was fair. They really only showed videos of smaller group settings of pre to intermediate adult students. That’s the range im interested in, but if a future teacher is interested in teaching kids, big groups, or one on one, you’ll have to purchase further courses. I enjoyed watching MOST the teachers, but must say the short haired blonde woman I opted to read the text instead of watch her. Her excessive gesturing and way that she read so slowly made it very difficult to absorb the content—it actually felt in some ways she demonstrated what we SHOULD NOT do as teachers. Over-gesture for every word, speak too slowly so that it sounds unnatural for the students, very little smiling. Now that I’ve completed it, time will tell if TEFL truly is helpful in me finding a gig…I hope it was worth it ti invest the time and money!”

“All i can say is that i am proud to have gone through TEFL. I will recommend TEFL to anyone anywhere in the world. One of the interesting thing is, one must not be a degree holder in education field to register for the course. All tutors in the programme are exceptional.”

“1. Time to redo "telephone class". No one teaches over the phone anymore. I've been using PPP structure in zoom classes for years now and it works very well. It's obvious that this unit is rooted in the previous century and please don't teach Skype and other technologies (looks like product placement). 2. add comments to the videos so we know what is going on in the class (things like: eliciting, PPP - concept testing, etc. 3. The eight steps of a full PPP class are presented in Unit 12, module 2. Language Review is part of a full PPP class in this model. Not only it is listed as a step (see below the steps I copied from your online material) but also in the video corresponding to this step the teacher says: “So just to finish off, I want to see what you can remember from the lesson about the new words that we've learned. So can anyone remember the pattern, or the word he used to describe this design?” But when I did the assignment I got feedback telling me that Language Review is not part of a PPP class and more importantly why it is not included in the task? Lead-in (setting the context) Presentation - Eliciting the TL Presentation - Concept checking Presentation - Drilling Presentation - Board work Practice Production Language review 4. The course content is confusing for the following reason: In Unit 12, module 2 Concept Checking is set to be the first part of the Presentation and it is clearly explained to be an attempt to check how much of a target language the students already know. "Concept checking questions" are not explained or introduced anywhere in the course but they appear in the final written task and are expected to be employed at the end of the presentation. The objective here is to check how well the students have grasped the TL through the presentation. To make it less confusing the concept questions should be introduced and explained in the course body and it should be made clear that there are two separate occasions on which a teacher checks the grasp of the concept. 5. Video observation course is a complete waste of time. The bad class is bad acting and the quizzes can be done without even watching the videos as the answers are so obvious. One possible way to improve this would be to get rid of the bad class videos and add comments to the good class ones. Comments should be about what the teacher is doing so one could identify activities/stages.”

We are still finding many people around the world don't have easy access to the internet or still use Skype etc. We try to make sure that our courses cover this so that teachers have the tools to provide English lessons to everyone, no matter where they are in the world. We usually receive excellent reviews about our video observation course, which is especially enjoyed by new teachers, so this will certainly remain within our course content. “Intensive but thorough course. Some areas would be more effective with more video examples (teaching large classes and the telephone course). The example song (Be Happy) needs a review - there was too much slang in there, most of the lyrics were back up sound and it was very difficult to analyse it in terms of what was needed. The tutor support was excellent.”

“Pros - I do feel like I've upskilled. Also, everything worked smoothly ie. LMS, tutor ect. Con - Felt the course material sometimes spent time covering 'common sense', instead of useful information.”
