“The course was pretty good. I appreciated that most of the vidoes came with a transcript because I enjoy reading more than watching somebody talk a bunch of words at me. If the classroom videos came with the transcript too, that would be great. I think I would have enjoyed more practice with writing lesson plans, and to just write so many of them that it becomes more like muscle memory. I really liked having a tutor as part of the course. My tutor was extremely helpful and quick to respond. Sometimes I had no idea what to write, but if I submitted something(to me it seemed like a jumbled mess), my tutor would give suggestions and point me in the right direction.”

“Very informative, comprehensive and easy to navigate. However, one video presenter needs to learn how pronounce correctly, it's proNUNciation, NOT proNOUNCiation - sounds pedantic, but if you cant use the broom, dont sweep the floor! I found the video presentations quite irritating on the whole, to be honest, and ended up preferring to read the text than watch those. But found the classroom videos very enlightening. Some of the assignment instructions seemed a little unclear, but I accept that it could just have been a case of me being stupid or something!”

“It's a very clearly and precisely written course. It's clear the writers know their stuff. This is both good and bad. The bad side is you don't always catch the little one-liners that mean so much later-on. If the course was textbook based this wouldn't be a problem. But a dyslexic like myself, jumping from video to text is difficult - especially when the option of printing the course is not viable as modules run into 100s of pages. Strangley, for a dyslexic, being able to access a coursebook - even at extra cost - would be very useful. This would allow me to use all the techniques and tricks I've mastered as a post-grad student and apply them to the course text. I will say, the quizzes and tests, observations are all really good, and it's a great motivation to get things right - likewise it's a challenge then things aren't right. This is something of a bugbear with the course, but the presentations to camera feel old and very dated. Again, the scripts are excellent, but the settings are rather dull. There was a lot of fuzzyness on the green screen shots. For the modules, it would have been nice to see teaching in practice - there must be acres of large class and online footage available. I'm afraid I have to say the classroom footage, although brilliant in an academic sense, was often dull, with camera angles being awkward. Compared to the overall visual style of the website and adverts, there was a suprising disparity in quality. Again, I recognise someone completed an enormous task to bring all the aspects of the course together, but it was a struggle. One issue I did have was that the PDF file for each course wasn't searchable. When I knew I'd seen something that I needed to revise, I found no way to search for it other than to wade through screen after screen. I hope this wasn't my issue alone...”

“I found the whole program very engaging. There were sections in grammar and linguistics that revealed my weaknesses as it has been a while since I visited those areas, which I found refreshing and honed my skills more.”

“Helpful in reviewing some information and gaining more engagement strategies. But there were errors in the grammar course (at least using US English grammar) as well as my tutor was not helpful and almost never answered my questions directly. Instead repeating the same information over and over as I asked clarifying questions.”

“I really enjoyed this course. My tutor always replied quickly and gave me explanations for his answers. I do think the online material needs updating , there were a few typos in it and some older terminology in the telephone and online units. The amount of material covered and the videos of actual teachers taking classes was excellent and I particularly enjoyed doing the online weekend classes . I think you need this mix not just online on your own, great to work with people from other countries, and I would have liked to do more like this to really practice and consolidate what I was learning. I did have a few technical difficulties with tests locking on me but the support team were always quick to respond and reset these. I don’t have anything to compare this too, and I am aware there are lots of TEFL courses out there, but for me it was really good, informative and great value for money.”

“The course was well organised, and personally, it was a great refresher of English grammatical terms that had been forgotten over the years. “I enjoyed learning but I am left wondering a rather big question: If only some schools provide the lessons/curriculum or syllabus to teach...if I end up working for one that does not provide it...how do I know what the logical progression is for all the lessons?”

“The courses were easy to follow and even taught grammar points that weren't taught when I was at school, the presentation videos throughout helped show how lessons were performed in a classroom, and the quizzes throughout also gave useful feedback for the answers.
