“I completed the 120 hour TEFL course and I believe it helped me understand and better prepare to lesson plan and teach students. I enjoyed this course, especially the grammar module because as a native speaker, sometimes it is difficult to identify grammar rules and know where new learners struggle.”

“Great, loved the at own pace and the videos and definitions and info was great. The final assignments, I personally thought the word limit was long, like I get its long to show understanding but I don't think teachers would actually write out that much. Like brief and short so they know where they're going. Only other thing would be sadly I still feel a little unequipped and nervous about starting a job, feel like I'm not competent enough. Ah well, gotta learn some way.”

“The course was easy to understand and well structured. When I needed to amend any assignments, the tutor’s feedback was so detailed that it was easy for me to understand where I need to improve. The virtual classroom also helped me gain experience in applying what I learned throughout the course and into actually teaching others. However, I think the list of TEFL courses could be categorized by the number of hours on the website because if I had discovered the diploma level courses earlier, I would’ve bought that instead of the fewer hour course.”

“I think this was a good course; I learned a great deal about teaching ESL. I agree with the overall philosophy of their approach- as much STT as possible. I could have benefited from even more sample videos of teachers in action and perhaps fewer quizzes, but, overall, no complaints. And a decent value.”

“The course was fine. I found the course material easy to retain and work through. I had a horrible experience with my tutor. When I read reviews I found similar experiences to mine, so I don't think it is a one off problem. My tutor, Asif, graded assignments very subjectively. The brief for assignments were vague at best, however they gave a specific reuberic for what the assignment needed to have or not have. My tutor would give feedback asking for things the brief specifically said not to include or didn't talk about at all. His feedback was highly specific to his opinion and style of teaching. Which your course says they want individual teachers and are there to enhance unique teaching styles not create teaching robots. I found myself learning things a teacher should and shouldn't do during the course and then having my tutor act contrary to what I was learning. Because so much of his feedback was subjective I had a hard time revising assignments. What looked to me like an appropriate activty for teaching a concept, to him, needed a revision bevause it wasn't what he would do. I got to the point where I just asked him whay he want to lesson plan to look like, bevause unless it was a lesson plan that he would write he wasn't going to pass it. I was not impressed with my tutor and feel like the assignment portion of the course needs stricter rubric that tutors adhere to and only grade from, or the individual tutor needs to design the assignment according to their grading rubic and it needs to be given to the student prior to the assignments. I also wish there was more transparency on the course itself. I am teaching online one-on-one and the course I took almost exclusively focused on in-person large classroom teaching. However, there was nothing to indicate that would be the case prior to selecting this course. There a lot of options out there for telf certification and I would probably choose a different one.”

“I recently completed the 120 hour premiere online Tefl Course with The TEFL Org. I have been wanting to do a TEFL course for many years and am so pleased this online option was available. I liked that you could work at your own pace from home. This was a well balanced course using many different teaching methods. I particularly enjoyed the video classroom examples from TEFL Org teachers. It also covered 5 different areas of TEFL Teaching useful for covering all potential teaching areas. I think the quizzes and assignments in each module were a very good idea to help recall what was taught in the lesson. Tutors Alex & Arthur were very quick at marking assignments and providing useful feedback and alternative ideas/lesson plans. Thank you to all at TEFL Org, I look forward to putting what I have learned into practice.”

“Great course challenging in places but you get your own personal tutor (mine was Arthur who was excellent and brimming with clever ideas for teaching). The online element worked really well with quizzes to check understanding and assignments. It was complemented by a 3 day classroom experience with the excellent Asif who was a great facilitator to take us through what works and what to avoid. Thanks Asif.”

“On the course information provided, I had a generally positive experience with The TEFL Org and would rate it 4 out of 5. The videos could benefit from being updated and some information was not necessary, but overall, I found the course to be good. It was hard to get back into studying after 35 years .I did it, so lets see what the future holds.”

“Classroom videos in particular were well done and helpful, with teachers modeling instruction and interaction with students. Would have been helpful to see a classroom video for teaching large classes and teaching telephone classes. Appreciated that I could read the script for the non-classroom videos. Tutor feedback was prompt and useful. Presentation with woman & man narrators got a bit dry and boring after awhile but not sure how to spice it up. Nice to have download option.”

“The overall experience was brilliant. Being an older student, I felt that the review information on verbs was challenging and needing to be more in depth. There were things that I was expected to already know that I never learned in school. Also there was one written assignment in the third course I think (it's been a minute) that required me to do some research outside of TEFL because the required information wasn't in the video demonstrations.”

“Dear Tefl, I enjoyed doing the TEFL online course. However, as you have asked me to review the course I will be honest and give you my feedback. I think you need to update the course that you are currently putting out online because of these reasons: The quality of the camera recording is poor. I think you were using one fixed camera and consequently, the students were facing away or at the side of the camera. This made it difficult to interpret what they were saying. The written text beneath each of the teaching sessions was inadequate. You have used some sort of auto-speech technology to write up what was being said. This app sometimes fails to identify words that have been spoken by a foreign accent and there are far too many 'mmm's and ahh's.' Someone should have checked it for accuracy as it comes across as slapdash. I loved doing the assignments and would like to have done more, as after all, this is where the real learning happens. Perhaps you could introduce them within the very first module. The resources page could be more comprehensive and give more pointers on where to go to get things that a TEFL teacher will need. It would be helpful to include the number of expected hours each module will take to complete, as some of them are a lot longer than others. Does the teaching of phonics in English primary schools have any relevance to TEFL? I think that TEFL. org could take a good look at the current practice and see how their phonemic teaching would benefit. Hope this all helps. Overall, I loved the course and would happily do it all again.”
