“Overall, a fantastic set of courses, although the order in which some assignments are presented is a little weird. I think it would be more important to go over the concepts that will be frequent. Here, the past, present, and future tenses are constantly used early on, but you don't actually get a definition or example of them until way later on, which could be very confusing and problematic if someone tries to follow a similar structure in their own lessons, they may confuse their students.”

“I recently completed the 200-hour Level 5 online TEFL course. Having been out of teaching for a number of years, I found the course a valuable way to re-engage with the teaching world, particularly in sharpening my understanding of grammar and phonology. It also provided a solid framework for lesson structuring. My tutor, Dee, was excellent throughout. Assignments were marked promptly, and the feedback was clear and incisive. Between my tutor’s guidance and the course content, I was pushed to think critically about teaching choices, especially regarding the use of AI in the classroom, which I greatly appreciated. That said, the experience wasn’t without frustrations. On several occasions I had to adjust my work because the tutor guidance and course layout didn’t fully align with the assessment criteria. Overall, though, this is a solid course for self-motivated new teachers as well as returning teachers like myself. Well worth taking. Thanks, Emmanuel.”

“I was very pleased with the Academic English module. It covered a variety of essential elements that broadened my vision about what Academic English is and the specificities involved. I perhaps would have liked a view videos or more visuals, as it was very text orientated, but other than that I am very satisfied with the course, thank you”

“I really enjoyed the TEFL Org platform for learning TEFL techniques! I have been putting my certificate to use already, as I am a volunteer tutor one-on-one and in a group setting at a local non-profit. A few things I have noticed and would like to provide feedback on: -The videos that TEFL uses to teach the certificate material seem out of date; could be a great time for a refresh with higher resolution, modern graphics, and sound. -I would have loved a comprehensive list of all the activities used in the teaching modules to serve as a reference for later when trying to come up with creative/alternative ways to teach material -The videos of the classes were fairly advanced; there was not much material/examples for teaching beginners/level zero -The page for teacher resources is really archaic and could use a refresh to be more helpful/searchable for teaching resources -My biggest fear is what if one student in my class cannot read or write (I teach adult immigrants)? -What tactics do you recommend to help with a class where one student is at a much lower level than the rest of the class (again, adult immigrants)? -It would have been nice to have had an email or message to introduce my tutor or someone who I could ask questions to. I had a challenging time figuring that out. The feedback was usually in one or two sentences; sometimes I felt like that individual just wanted to answer the email and get it done instead of caring about what I was asking about. What I have found most useful is the following: -Creating sample lesson plans; that prepared me significantly for preparing my group classes -I took extensive notes for every training module and noted every activity so I could reference back -The stress on S-S interaction is so critical; having students practice speaking is the most important. They can practice listening, reading, and writing at home, but in class, speaking is most important! I would love to continue to receive teaching tips, emails about new ideas, inspirational examples, etc, after my certificate as well.”

“The course itself is put together well, very interactive and engaging. I did not find myself struggling to get through the content as it is structured in a way that engaged me personally. I like that each section is broken into small, compartmentalized modules that you can work through quickly while being able to return to it easily through the menu. The only real issue I had was with the audio quality of some of the classroom setting videos. Some videos required the volume to be maximized, and others were loud, requiring me to frequently have to adjust my headset.”

“I mostly enjoyed my 120 Hour Premier Online Course. With the knowledge of there being so many TEFL scams, I enrolled through tefl.org with confidence. In many ways, in my nomadic time of taking the course, it was ideal that I could pick up where I left off at any time without worrying about time constraints. This is a great convenience to anyone who is 'on the move' and wants to progress towards teaching English as a foreign language. I'm not an English teacher, yet. But I did take a local (to Cambodia) supplemental post-TEFL fastrack course, which featured lesson planning and in classroom teaching, and I feel like my 120 hour online course served as an adequate primer to this additional course. The methodology was mostly the same, but there were some differences. I don't necessarily feel like I would have been 'classroom ready' after the completion of the course, that is, unless I had an experienced assistant present, or was an assistant myself. It's probably the common consensus that there is a disparity between online learning and in person teaching. My harshest criticisms would be (with my inevitable human bias intact): - The prompts for the written assignments varied in quality; some were clear and concise, some I felt like there was pertinent information missing - Many of the in-classroom videos were too long and felt extraneous enough to divert from the topic. For example, I found myself at times wondering "What topic are we covering here, again?". But perhaps this could cater to those who are less than familiar with being in a classroom setting like that. All said and done, though, it helped. I feel like I've accomplished and gained something; both (virtually) tangible, my credentials, and intangible; my useful, and practical knowledge of teaching methodology that I did not possess before starting the course. So thank you for that.”
