“What’s the point of asking for reviews for insurance products like this unless you’ve had the misfortune of needing them? Then reviews matter. At this stage, all I can say is you took my money efficiently. Stupid companies…”

“you do deserve more, but im not happy about your policy once you have put a car on a policy and you get rid of that car you cannot cancel and get a refund of the remaining period even if its got ten months to run.”

“Reasonably easy to purchase via the telephone, although a handy courtesy contact card to keep in a wallet would be preferable together with hard copy documents would be more than welcome as an option. Personally, I'm truly sick and tired of relying on the www and App's for anything.”

“Their renewal systems tried give me cover i didn't need and tried to bill me too much. When i used them they have an indian call centre - person wasn't very pleasant and fairly obstructive and thought i'd got a caravan (I was on a motorbike). They did recover me to where i needed to go in the end tho and they are cheaper than others.”

“I renewed my Start Rescue by phone a week before the due date. I received an email after the previous contract had finished telling me I was out of contract. All sorted when I rang to find out what the problem was. I am not happy about this because if I had broken down in the mean time it may have been a problem”

Hi Andrew, thank you for your feedback. Our renewal prices are partly determined by the vehicle age on cover, as certain age groups of vehicle are more likely to break down. As your vehicle moved into our next age category there was an increase in your renewal price. However, as we value our returning customers, renewal savings are automatically applied to all renewal quotes to ensure that you never pay more than a new customer for equivalent cover with us. If you are unhappy with the price when you receive your next renewal quote, please get in touch with our Customer Services Team, who may be able to apply a discretionary discount based on your history with us. “I have not yet had to use their service so cannot comment on that. However they offer the same service as the other company I was with, but at a much cheaper price. Also they cover both of our cars, even the older car, reg.in 2006, which the other company would not do.”

“Try to work out why an online like for like quote was lower than my renewal quote ?. As a returning and loyal customer, I expected maybe a bit of "wiggle room", but ended up paying about a £5 more. Easier to just pay up, rather than confuse the system with a so called "new customer" log in, but won't be caught again next year. Happy with my cover, un-happy paying more for something that is advertised cheaper on-line.”

If you compared prices using a comparison site, you may have seen a cheaper price which includes an excess of £30.00 payable on each callout. Excess policies have a lower annual premium but require the excess of £30.00 to be paid before assistance can be arranged. “I can't comment about the service as I've never had to use it. However wasn't too impressed with the renewal fee which was well over 50% increase on the previous years price because "the car was older" even though I'd not called out breakdown the whole year - what would it have been if I had had to make a call? Renewal quote reduced after shopping around with better price.”

However, we value our existing customers and always look to provide the best price, which is why renewal savings are automatically included meaning an existing customer would not pay more than a new customer for equivalent cover.
