This relates purely to RENEWAL, since I haven't had to make use of their rescue services. It is absolutely infuriating to be pestered with multiple emails and phone calls starting a month before renewal is due. I very nearly changed to a different provider because of this...

Extremely difficult to renew - website takes all the information, then provides no means to pay! Had to speak to them on the phone to get it done, which was a frustrating waste of time.

Customer service needs to be more professional in dealing with customers. The girl I spoke with, was quite rude and put the phone down. I nearly didn't renew.

It took 3 attempts to successfully take out a policy. The first 2x resulted in a very poor online experiences! Having got to the end of the app, it stopped working. I rang and was reassured that any money I had paid wouldn’t be taken. A day later I tried again and this time I managed to successfully take out a policy. The initial premium I had paid was unsurprisingly taken from my bank! The only reason I have awarded SR 2 stars and not 1 is that when I rang to complain, the person said ‘no problem - I will refund this money immediately.’ Again, it is 2 days later and I still haven’t received it. I do not accept the ‘5 working days’ excuse! If I send funds to someone it debits my account immediately and credits the other account equally immediately! So, not a valid reason! So, quite an unimpressive experience all in all. Hopefully if I ever need to call SR out, the performance will be far better than this.

Reviewing the renewal process only - very poor. Apparently I was on auto-renew however was not reminded prior to the renewal date so was not aware until the money was taken from my account. Checked my account and it said auto renewal was off so not sure what has happened. The only reason I havent complained is that the renewal price was cheap enough however I would have at least liked an opportunity to check first.

This review relates to the renewal process. I tried to renew on the web page attached to the email reminder. I attempted to renew several times, but the page did not appear to be working. On contacting the web-chat, I was told that there was a problem with the online service and was offered a call-back to make payment. I agreed, but requested that it should be in the afternoon as I had to go out to an appointment. On returning just before noon, I found a message on my answer machine from about an hour earlier saying I'd missed your call and asking me to call you back. I found this pretty annoying and it made me wonder about whether the product I was renewing was any better than the attempts to sell it. I tried to pay online the following day, but it was still unavailable. I then immediately received another call back and was told that the website was working normally... I paid online but am sceptical about what to expect if I need to call on StartRescue.

Disgusted email saying pmt automatic 30 days 14.30 pm been away return to email taken before that date, never gave permission find it sneaky underhand will not use again or recommend.

Auto renew makes the process straightforward and you can do this without the fear of an increased price as start rescue offer a discount to loyal customers, the downside is the fact that start rescue offer free add-on insurances that all of a sudden terminate and due to the fact that my car insurance renews a month before my start rescue does I am now without legal protection.This could be added to my car insurance but the insurer wants to charge a £25 admin fee! Start rescue only advised me of this change at renewal, if they had sent a mail out when they made the decision to stop offering the legal protection I would have been able to have added it to my car insurance without incurring the admin fee. The score of 2* is I think a fair reflection of my treatment from start rescue this time around.It would have been a full 5* if they had been more mindful of their customers.

My partner added me on her breakdown as had 2 cars and she didn't renew hers straight away and been with them for year and tried to charge he £68 not happy she will be going elsewhere

I must have sent 3 emails plus further 2 online forms t check if my renewals had gone through. However nobody seems to be responding apart from a phone call which I thought it wasn't any help at all as I was told I had to wait 2 days before the expiry date and that is when they can tell me if the renewal had gone through or not. Its not a very good system or good customer service hence my ratings above

Great prices but hounded by text, emails and calls regarding renewal..if I had more time to free I would of considered switching for this very reason..I knew when it was due didn't need daily reminders Thank you

Disappointed with this renewal, just recommended you to work colleagues and now that you have withdrawn the Drivers Legal Protection after us dropping it from our car insurances we have had to waste time finding Legal Protection policies. Very poor performance on your part, we will be looking for alternative Breakdown insurance next year. Yours very disappointed policy holders

Our vehicle age categories are as follows: 0-5 years, 6-10 years, 11-15 years, 16-19 years and 20 years plus. If your vehicle has entered into a new age bracket, this will result in your premium increasing. Been a customer for 5y. Price online cheaper than auto renewal. Customer Services could not match the online price so had to cancel my policy and renew. Unnecessary admin work for both SR and myself. I have needed a call out twice over the years and was impressed with the process, time to arrive and the engineer.

Had to try about 3 different bank cards. Could not renew and the next day was finally able to renew even though the website kept saying there was an error and I should try a different card. Almost lost a customer due to the poor service.

My policy should have renewed automatically but didn’t the reason given was that my credit card on the system had expired in Jan 2019. I asked how had payment been taken in July 19 and 20 using this card?

Absolutely disgusted that you have increased your prices by 10%, was told because of the current climate. People have not been using their cars, but you have still had money and not had to pay for many call outs. This price increase is way above inflation, you should be ashamed of yourselves

I received an email from you, saying RENEW YOUR BREAKDOWN COVER YOUR POLICY WITH US HAS EXPIRED So I did ? ------------------------------- Then I realised it was not due to expire till the 10th of October 2021 No822751 Something wrong with your computer ! or is it a new way of making money. Wasting my time and live chat Makes me very wary of renewing when the time comes ps why doe's it have Rate Start Rescue out of 5. TWICE
