Sonarworks is an interesting idea and a good achievement for low budget producers.

I've been using Sonarworks for a few years now to help my home studio mixing be the best it can be. I've only used the headphones version but I have been impressed by the neutral sound it gives me and I feel like my mixes translate in different environments more consistently than when I didn't use Sonarworks. I also love how I can choose to apply it systemwide for everything I do on my computer; from games to Youtube to Spotify. The downsides are that I haven't visited the website since I bought the Reference 4 Headphones software and when I upgraded to the latest software, it was confusing to determine the differences. It also seemed that the direct upgrade path for my Reference 4 Headphones to the latest Headphones software was a bit buried in the website. I'd like to see it more easily findable.

The information on the product itself is great, the page provides all the necessary details and there's nothing lacking there. However the shopping experience drops the ball quite a bit, as web developer, there are too many screens to jump through to get to the purchase screen. It'd be a lot smoother if by hitting the buy button it just opens one screen with all the options. After purchase is also fine, the only issue id that sometimes the authentication doesn't go through and there's no alternative way to do it.

SoundID reference works as expected from a long-time user of Reference 4, which I can't live without since I have an untreated room and rely on headphones for accurate monitoring. The support ticket about educational discount was fast, and I have no complaints about the buying experience - very nice and straightforward. 4 stars since the headphone version "upgrade" feel more like an update, which should have been free. (essentially paying for M1 Native compatibility).

I first used SoundID on my phone and discovered this company. It opened whole new world for me. I used $150 headphones and this software to master and mix my first single to professional level. Navigation and shoping expirience was very smooth. Also support answeredmy questions in satisfying way.

My mixes are better and it’s the major point ! And the more neutral sound makes me mix easily and fastly. I would appreciate some optimisations for my Mac Studio M1 : just a mixing curve shouldn’t create a response time in Logic. And I would like a simpler way of opening Sonarworks and changing models. Using it as a plug-in in Logic plus as an ap elsewhere isn’t so intuitive. But I couldn’t mix without Sonarworks now and I am sad of lost time before using it. Cheers ! Philippe from Toulouse

Everything was smooth and easy. I knew exactly what I was looking for and the experience was overall great. The only thing is that the shipping was a bit troublesome. The website says 2-5 express shipping but FedEx states that is economy shipping and takes almost double to receive the package. Other than that, would recommend :D

Cannot speak about the shopping experience, I upgraded from reference 4 Studio. I downloaded the trial (a few months ago) and installed it. So far so good, worked with WASAPI one day, but when trying different modes, things go bad and with help of support I was unable SoundID to work again. Regardless of many retries and total cleanup things never worked again. Till last cleanup and retry. Nice support people, but lack of quick(er) working solutions with obviously widely known issues as of Google search (as a tech and IT person I expect more solutions and less "reinstall-windows" like advice and commercial PR). Focus more on tech excellence, which is what the customer wants and benefits from, not on the seller's excellence You want and benefit from. A good product is easy to find even without PR tricks.

The company Sonarworks did impress me with their support. Support responded fast and with clear info. The whole online buying process was also easy. The product registration (account creation, license number, product registration) is a bit complex, if that could be improved I would give it 5 stars.

Good product, but there are some drawbacks after upgrading: I miss the button to switch between speaker and headphone mode in the plugin, which I had on a hotkey in my DAW to quickly change between the two, now I have to open the plugin and manually select the preset each time. Next and previous preset controls don't work well in Ableton. Applying EQ curves feels laggy and can be annoying to get right. The application feels heavy on my system, I have to use a high buffer size to avoid dropouts and clicks And finally, I would like to see a cross-talk feature for headphones

Great products and regular updates. The software installation and authorization process could be a lot more smooth and simple. The upgrade policy and general company approach is a bit disorganized, hopefuly now that they have more defined their identity and product line this will improve

Setup was really easy to do. The sound difference didn't seem that big at first, but A-Bing the before and after made me realize some phase canceling critical correction that makes the stereo field seem wider and more precise in instrument panning. Nice!

My first encounter with the Sonarworks products has been several years ago when I just got my first professional grade studio headphones, later to find out that the headphones were rather "colored" and quite "insincere". I couldn't understand why my mixes were so "out there", after all I bought such great headphones. Once realizing my listening device weren't being honest with me I searched the web for reviews on different headphones, so I would buy something more "honest". Browsing the web I stumbled upon a site that reviewed a variety of headphones with actual measurements and deep analysis of which headphones to buy and which aren't so good. That part of the site was merely the "Blog" part and apparently this company had a product which specializes in correcting "spectral errors" in headphones. That's how I came to learn of Sonarworks and their product the "Reference 3 Headphones Calibration Tool". Honestly I was quite skeptical at first so I downloaded the software (used it as a VST2 plugin in my DAW), and opened the profile of my headphones. At the beginning it sounded so different but I took it to the test and god almighty I was mind blown. The mixes translated a 100 times better, I wasn't guessing anymore. Having this software has helped me immensely and I have learned a lot from it! A definite recommendation!
