We sent in our inspection information as required, this was rather slow going forward. We was then asked for additional information from Sally, this was sent in, I chased this by email on 2 occasions (no reply) In desperation I then called and was told will be attended to the next day (it wasn’t). Additional email request sent (no reply), we was then suspended from working with 2 clients. I then called again and managed to speak to a young lady who’s then asked me to send information to her and she would pass it on to the auditors. We was then asked for additional information and at this point the chap in got things moving promptly and indeed had it all tied up within 24 hours (thank you). This has caused us a great deal of distress and is far from good enough. I would like again to thank the auditor that handled me renewal at the end.

Process is clumsy. I was asked to supply office risk assessments then asked to supply site risk assessments on top. It would have been far easier to have been provided with a clear list and a clear explanation as to what was required. I had to keep submitting documents to see if they were acceptable. Took up a lot of my time.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation, and this does involve submitting documentation within specific formats and templates and subsequent re-submission of documentation each time accreditation is awarded, to ensure that all evidence provided adheres to these standards. To make the process easier next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal so that when the questionnaire is released 30 days before expiry you can re-submit your up to date documents quickly. If you have any further queries about how this works then please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team directly.

I found the process & responses from SC very slow. It was a full 4 weeks after applying that somebody came back to me. Then another week & a bit before the auditor responded...all in all it took 5-6 weeks from submission. I am aware that there is an option at extra cost to 'speed' the process up.....that feels to me like paying extra for the service I would expect as the norm.

Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also. The audit process was a little slow. Our certificate had expired at least a week before we had our new accreditation checked even though we submitted as soon as we could.

The vetting process now takes far too long. I was told there was a 20 day wait for administration but after 23 days I had to chase my representative even though I had submitted my questionnaire in perfectly good time. They blamed the Christmas break even though it was February? My accreditation ran out one week before I received my new accreditation which ironically is to provide services to a client who uses your services for their company too. And they were also not happy with your delay in processing seeing as we pay for our membership. Needs work and less tea breaks in my honest opinion.

We find the whole accreditation process very demanding to put it plainly. We as a company have chosen to become members of SafeContractor - this is our choice - but when it comes to the Accreditation process it seems to be as if we are scrutinised to the nth degree with no help or compromise from SafeContractor! I appreciate that you have a job to do but to complete the process of Accreditation should not take over 3 weeks to complete nor take away priority from on site Health & Safety control. The whole process is stressful to say the least & unfortunately you are made to feel as if you are being tested as a beginner each year by the Accreditors whose responses are terse & not easy to understand & we are paying for this privilege!! Apologies for these negative comments but this is how we find the Accreditation process as a whole - it is not a joy!

I have been completing this exercise for more then twelve years - despite being told over the years that you have more assessors, better streamlined systems, fast tracking etc, etc, the actual process takes far too long. Information passed to your administrators, e.g. "I only work on Wednesday", is ignored (received several emails and a phone call outside the given parameters.. Now we input to an administrator who sifts the evidence provided and after a time, contacts us to tell us what additional input is required (the same as before but by an "Administrator", rather than the assessor. If you have not chosen "fast Track", then I now expect the process to take up to 4 months. Not really what I would call reasonable timescales.

Too much emphasis on upgrade packages as opposed to carting out the actual audit.

Over bureaucratic - they react to each submission as if it were the first time you had applied, and ask for the same confirmations year after year, instead of looking at your previous year's submission and asking if anything has changed. If you don't want to pay a premium, they will queue your application for a month before they start to ask the stupid questions and then delay it by a further week or two. I'll look at switching next year.

Very time consuming. The fact there is no allowance for the time it takes to become acrediated is very poor

Significantly delayed, while I appreciate it may not have been the fault of Safecontractor we had to await the renewal of our CHAS accreditation in order to finalise the safe contractor process, this was apparently due to not appearing on the SSIP portal. We had provided certification of CHAS and they had confirmed we were accredited but due to bye laws we had to await our update on the system. I can only assume this was the fault of CHAS as they offered a years free registration, but nethertheless the resultant delay meant our client had to chase us for three months for an update on the process.

Thank you for leaving us a review and congratulations on your accreditation. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this issue caused you. Unfortunately, in the case of Deem To Satisfy audits we do require a valid membership to your other provider (in this case CHAS) to be visible on the SSIP portal. To avoid this causing an issue for your other clients who require a full SafeContractor accreditation in the future, you could consider using your full SafeContractor accreditation to FastTrack to other SSIP schemes with up to 77% discount. Please reference the SSIP Deem To Satisfy chart (https://ssip.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Deem-to-Satisfy-Chart-15.08.19.pdf) to see the time and money savings you could get from being SafeContractor accredited.
