As a user of Safe contractor Accreditation even though my clients no longer require me to be with Safe Contractor as a pre requisite that i had to be with Safe contractor i decided to stay with Safe contractor for another year, would have been nice i i got a few extra Safe Contractor logos sent out for my vans only to be told i would have to pay a further £15.00 if i wanted a further set sent out, Great! i have a think at re new time as to weather i need to be with Safe contractor !!!!!

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for choosing to renew your SafeContractor membership. We have hundreds of clients who only work with SafeContractor approved contractors, and as an accredited member you are visible to all of these large brands when they seek to award work. All of our contractors are entitled to 5 stickers when they become accredited and any additional quantities are chargeable. Our portal is available year-round, and to make the submission process quicker and easier, we recommend uploading updated documents throughout the year. You will then be able to save these documents and submit them when the questionnaire becomes available, 30 days prior to your accreditation expiry. you ask for one set of information and then your accreditation team want to see something else - This has been very time consuming having to locate different information. also asking for policies we don't have, want or need, and having to pay lip service by 'creating a document' to suit your requirements not ours!

Clients choose to work with us because we enable them to have greater visibility of the health and safety compliance of their supply chain. Our system ensures that all contractors they work with have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. To make the process easier next year, we recommend updating your documents throughout the year via our online portal so that when the questionnaire is released 30 days before expiry you can re-submit your up to date documents quickly. I always find this process difficult and whilst I appreciate that you require comprehensive information and documentation, I think some of the requested information is unnecessary and overly pedantic. Further, I appreciate that the process is only once a year, but even so, takes an inordinate amount of time to reach final approval.

This is not just a comment to Safecontractor but to all SSiP related H&S accreditors. Our clients are the most important thing to us. They have their own requirements, they ask For Safecontractor, CHAS, Constructionline, SMAS, Gas Safe, Builders Profile and so on. To be honest the list is exhausting and many hours are taken up satisfying the demands of these accreditors. Why is there not a nationally approved standard that can be used as a deemed to satisfy accreditation?

Clients choose to work with us because we enable them to have greater visibility of the health and safety compliance of their supply chain. Our system ensures that all contractors they work with have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. If you find that you are being asked for multiple SSIP accreditations, then all SSIP schemes operate a Deem to Satisfy criteria where you can use one accreditation to evidence your compliance and therefore complete a reduced question set to gain your additional SSIP accreditation. This year 2019 the process did not seem quite as laboured, this was a good thing as we had been thinking of withdrawing from the process as previously it has been do laborious and unnecessarily lengthy. It was still a long while before we had the result which I think should be changed - a 2 week turn round would be acceptable and if this could be achieved then we may stay with it in future years. So much of the content is repetitive so shorter sections and a longer time between renewals would be another thing that does not challenge us whether to stay or withdraw from this process . Its also quite hard to speak to anyone at SC if you have a query, e.g. we aren't assigned an account manager

The process is quite complicated if not something you have done before. Not sure how much the number to call charges each time. Can receive varying answers to the same question depending on who you speak to. Was a long drawn out process, then additional fees charged to fast track application once completed. If additional fees payed, can take 4 working days instead of uo to 2 months!!

The portal this year we felt was unclear and we thought we had finished the session when we had actually missed parts. We feel each section for completion should be clearer as last year the submission was no problem at all.
