The safe contractor process in line with the Common Assessment Standards is assessed by personnel who are only looking directly at the standards and not taking into account the risk profile and number of employees of the assessed company. It was a massive task to ensure we have each required element which is costly for a small company. We have two other SSIP Certifications and will not be renewing this in the future.

Very poor service, it took 7-8 weeks from submission of documentation to obtain renewal of our certification, which as an existing customer is unacceptable. In the meantime our clients were threatening to stop using us and/or not pay us because our certification had expired. I chased numerous times for updates but was just told there were delays in the audit team. Requests from Safecontractor for additional documents were always responded to immediately. We were offered a fast track service at significant additional cost but I fail to see why we should be required to pay more money on top of an already expensive membership in order for Safecontractor to provide an acceptable turnaround time. I can only assume that other firms did use the fast track service which pushed our application further and further back in the queue.

Previously, you could submit the renewal questionnaire 30 days before your expiry date. Now, we've extended that window to 60 days before expiry, giving you an additional 30 days to complete the submission. We hope this change makes a positive difference as you prepare for next year! Everyone I spoke with was friendly however having paid the money up front, the wait on each part of the process was unacceptable. We were told they were very short staffed and there was a backlog but we had to chase and chase the whole way through which was disappointing and time consuming.

I'm considering canceling Safecontractor. They never seem to be happy with the business we give them and are constantly trying to force us to buy additional products. Charging customers for getting the paperwork done fast, is in my opinion a poor way to increase revenue. In terms of the checking process, common sense has to prevail, and this is sadly lacking sometimes.

Superb service. Well worth paying for the enhanced upgrade, they will basically walk you thru the process and give you all the help you need. Take your im2, take their advice and fully engage with them and before you know it you'll have accreditation Well recommended

This was my first year reapplying for the accreditation for MPI and Richard Jones was great to work with. Helped me understand and guided me through each step of the way. Now I am prepared for the coming years for reapplying.

Thank you for leaving a review and congratulations on your accreditation! Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavours to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However, if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also.

Had completed the assessment then got assessor feedback asking for more information some of which were already in the assessment Then got an email asking for more rams just how many do you need, Also asked specifically for a method statement and then asked for the risk assessments, why not ask for rams??? What a waste of time which delays my customers accreditation and just gets us annoyed. Improve it

The accreditation started at a really busy time for our company, but we were kept informed of the requirements and have taken away some useful information and procedures, so all in all we feel it has been worth while.

Once Alcumus actually got around to assessing our submission the service was very good and any issues were quickly dealt with. However, their standard package features a 20 working day turnaround on submissions which is basically to get you to pay for the premium package. In this case, it took Alcumus 25 working days to even look at my submission, and that was only because I called to find out what was happening with it.

Thank you for providing feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that you felt your experience with our service this year wasn’t to the expected standard. Your feedback is valuable to allow us to improve our processes moving forward and to provide a better service to our customers. I’d firstly like to provide a brief overview of the current renewal process to hopefully clear up any questions you may have with the process: - As you are aware the SafeContractor audit process is an annual audit. The accreditation expiry date runs 12 months from the date you are awarded accreditation. - We allow access to the questionnaire throughout the year to allow contractors the opportunity to upload information to avoid any delays in the audit process. - The questionnaire submit button is then released 30 days prior to the accreditation expiry date. - We recommend that customers submit at the earliest opportunity so if any questions are raised from the audit team, we can deal with the queries as quickly as possible so that your accreditation does not lapse. Although the above process is our current process it’s not to say it cannot be improved and we agree with some of the comments you have raised. We are currently exploring options for releasing the questionnaire earlier than the current 30 days before expiry to aid our customers in uploading the required information and to allow a larger window to reply to any queries the audit team may have. In terms of the package timescales, we offer four different packages to allow our customers to select the most suitable package for their business at the time of registration/renewal. We have listed the packages below: - Standard Package = Initial contact from our technical support officers within 7 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 20 working days. - Express Package = Initial contact from our technical support officers within 2 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 2 working days. - Assisted Package = Initial contact and questionnaire support from our technical support officers within 5 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 5 working days. - Premier Package = Initial contact and questionnaire support from our technical support officers within 1 working day and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 2 working days. Our packages are designed to ensure our customers experience the most suitable service for their business needs at the time, we apologise if this did not translate during a conversation with our team this year, as the intended purpose was to simply give you the option of the other services that we do have available and to see if they were more suitable to your business needs for this year’s audit process.

I think from start to finish the accreditation process was a good experience. I found that there was a lot of support and guidance throughout the whole onboarding and I was pleased with the outcome. Even though my paperwork was slightly lacking (in a couple of cases) guidance was there to advise me on how I could bring it back up to speed.

I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the salesman on the original call, to the point that I signed up. However, from there the communications went a bit quiet. I had to chase the progress of my application and some months later I got another sales call trying to upsell me H&S support. I said well, before I even consider another purchase, you had better sort out my outstanding application!!! He made some calls, and I received my accreditation a few days later. The team were helpful throughout, just clearly very busy and not enough staff. I would use them again but be more forceful with timelines.
