Great for the initial year. Accreditated with SafeContractor for 3 years+. Very shabby, this time around and frustrating to deal with - at best. Requested information on the reason why our subscription was to rise by double on the previous year... but still waiting for the reply to emails. Their Subscription (payment) to accreditation approvals are not date aligned, to their advantage (You will see this after year one). Only when we gave them notice to leave we received a discount more appropriate to the level of service they provide us on an annual basis. We were endlessly prompted that our Main customer could see we were 'At Risk'...as a result, we moved to another body that could provide SSIP. They NEVER forgot to ask for money. Shame on you SafeContractor.

On your Safe Contractor account your membership date and accreditation date will be different. The membership date is the date in which your payment was made and will run from a 12 month of this date each year. The membership itself covers you for being a member of Safe Contractor and gain access to the Safe Contractor membership benefits it doesn’t mean your accredited. Your accreditation date will always be different to your membership date. Reason being the accreditation date will be the date in which your auditor granted you your Accreditation certificate Inline with SSIP Rules and Bylaws. This date has to run with a 12 months period and no more, again as governed by SSIP. This is not to benefit Safe Contractor or any other party. The reason communication may be sent stating that they may be showing as at Risk to a client is to highlight to the customer that they are required to make an action on their account. This is to prevent them possibly showing to a client that they have documents outstanding for audit on their account. This may be for many reasons such the insurances we have on file have expired, a questionnaire may be outstanding for completion etc. Failure to have these up to date documents may result in a client noticing that documents have lapsed and may effect a customer’s ability to work with a client due to not being compliant, so it is a really important process to notify customers when documents have lapsed. Thank you.

As my first attempt within my company to renew our accreditation, I found the first stage of working through the process portal quite easy - however, when it came to being audited, this was very frustrating as additional information was asked of and duplicated. We paid for the fast track service as our accreditation had expired at this point, yet still took another 10 working days for completion. I started our renewal on 18th May and then took until 14th June to receive the certification. long-winded process.

I have used Safecontractor for several years now, providing the same service but this year there were many more requirements than previous years required as minimums. The staff I dealt with were very nice and helpful throughout the process. The clients I needed safe contractor accreditation for, I no longer work with so having my accreditation is a nice to have and at the end of the process I was questioning if I will go through the process next year. I don’t understand why I was being asked for so many items more than previous. So staff communication 4/5 but new additional requests 2/5 overall happy I have the accreditation but questioning if I would be willing to do again with what feels like the goal posts moving.

Thank you for your review, and congratulations on your SafeContractor accreditation. As part of awarding our UK-leading accreditation annually, our team of expert auditors need to ensure that all contractors have the relevant documentation in place to comply with health and safety legislation. Many client organisations choose to work with us because SafeContractor goes beyond the 14-point core SSIP criteria to ask risk-based questions tailored to contractor’s business profile.

Complete con. Any proper company has all the appropriate health and safety documentation in place. No need to pay safecontractor money to simply tick a box and pass on to the client.

Our standard audit time taken from all documents being submitted is 4 weeks for an auditor to complete your h&s assessment. Our team endeavour to assess all questionnaires as quickly as possible and to provide as much assistance as possible. However if you would like to upgrade your package to have an express audit included or to include assistance from our team of expert IOSH and NEBOSH qualified auditors then this option is available to you also.

The process was easy to navigate and the team are very helpful and responded quickly and efficiently to any queries raised. One comment, we were told to start renewal process 1 month before it was due, which we did, but had a few queries along the way. When we did submit it, the result would have taken us past our expire date for the accreditation. So we paid the express service to get our application checked. It would be better if you were informed of the process length, to ensure all items are done in time.

Poor The fact that different people review submissions is a huge problem as they each seem to have their own idea what is required so you have the scenario of sending all the things that the first assessor asks for and resubmit and then another assessor reviews that and moves the goal posts and asked for a different set of requirements. This is not acceptable. The first review should detail all the things required and once they have been submitted, this should be it. PLEASE do not advise me that we can pay for a dedicated assessor! It's not good enough that this has to be an additional cost. I don't think that you appreciate that organisations rely on their accreditation to conduct their business.

The process within Safe contractor means that you do have dedicated assessors. You are assign a technical support officer at the beginning of your accreditation journey each year. The technical supports officers role is to support you with the submission of your questionnaire and ensuring there are certain core documents in place ready for audit. Once the questionnaire is complete and the core documentation has been provided this is then sent to a dedicated qualified auditor to assess your documents in line with legislation and SSIP regulations. This may result in further requests following an in depth audit of your documentation. Thank you.

No stars!!! Awful experience this year. We submitted our renewal in ample time, but this was not even looked at for a month. Our renewal date was missed by 4 weeks. I had to call every day to ask someone to look at it, to which I was told each time "We'll email you today" which was lies. Being told you don't have the staff while they also said if I pay £100 or more I could have the application looked at in 2 days... so what? You prioritise those who pay premium and don't care about anyone else??? The accreditation is not cheap to begin with. I had to deal with all of our clients emailing and calling me to ask where our renewed certificate was. I got scrutiny from the directors because clients were chasing them daily too. This created extra work for me when i'm already totally stretched at work and made me look unreliable to my bosses because I had to make excuses for your poor service for a month! The whole process was painful, ridiculous and not at all what we expected from you. When I complained about the timescale all I got told is you were understaffed. Well, if that's the case open the questionnaires sooner for your clients so we have more opportunity to get a response BEFORE our renewal date.

Thank you for providing feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that you felt your experience with our service this year wasn’t to the expected standard. Your feedback is valuable to allow us to improve our processes moving forward and to provide a better service to our customers. I’d firstly like to provide a brief overview of the current renewal process to hopefully clear up any questions you may have with the process: - As you are aware the SafeContractor audit process is an annual audit. The accreditation expiry date runs 12 months from the date you are awarded accreditation. - We allow access to the questionnaire throughout the year to allow contractors the opportunity to upload information to avoid any delays in the audit process. - The questionnaire submit button is then released 30 days prior to the accreditation expiry date. - We recommend that customers submit at the earliest opportunity so if any questions are raised from the audit team, we can deal with the queries as quickly as possible so that your accreditation does not lapse. Although the above process is our current process it’s not to say it cannot be improved and we agree with some of the comments you have raised. We are currently exploring options for releasing the questionnaire earlier than the current 30 days before expiry to aid our customers in uploading the required information and to allow a larger window to reply to any queries the audit team may have. In terms of the package timescales, we offer four different packages to allow our customers to select the most suitable package for their business at the time of registration/renewal. We have listed the packages below: - Standard Package = Initial contact from our technical support officers within 7 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 20 working days. - Express Package = Initial contact from our technical support officers within 2 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 2 working days. - Assisted Package = Initial contact and questionnaire support from our technical support officers within 5 working days and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 5 working days. - Premier Package = Initial contact and questionnaire support from our technical support officers within 1 working day and an outcome on the application once the file has been passed from a TSO to an auditor within 2 working days. Our packages are designed to ensure our customers experience the most suitable service for their business needs at the time, we apologise if this did not translate during conversation with our team this year, as the intended purpose was to simply give you the option of the other services that we do have available and to see if they were more suitable to your business needs for this year’s audit process.

Not the most pleasing experience as when providing the information via the portal, there is always something else required that was not requested in the first place. Every year we end up doing two or three more submissions! I would like to enquire why there is no recognition of a Company's compliance with BS ISO 45001:2018 accredited by a UKAS Independent Auditor?
